'Like a war zone': Some NYC residents living behind barricades, checkpoints 9 years after 9/11

The street below Danny Chen's window in lower Manhattan has changed over the last decade from a bustling four-lane thoroughfare to an empty road lined with police barricades.

Tell me, how many chickens did they charge you for that brain removal operation you had. What is the medical term for that? I believe they call it a Limbaughtomy.
Yes,we taxpayors should pay for Everybody's health care, including Mexico and the rest of the 3rd world. We taxpayor's should also house(public housing and Section 8),feed(EBT and school lunches),etc, etc. No personal responsibility required. That's what get's me out of bed to go to work.Service to all of mankind instead of feeding, housing, educating, and providing health care to my family.

But it was a good enough reason to attack Iraq, right?

I have no idea what you're talking about, the invasion and occupation of Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.

If you can't feed them, don't breed them. Otherwise, if you're so damned worried about them you need to start adopting them yourself. Quit forcing other people to do the job you won't do.

Baby Mamas who can't support their brood should be sterilized. The children should go into foster care for adoption. The homeless are welcome to sleep in the street. The family dog and the chainlink fence will keep them out of my yard.

There are two problems with that here in New York:
1. It's NYC - Predominantly Democratic and they refuse to see that politicians do stupid things, but the do go to the polls anyway - That's why the entire state - including upstate NY (predominantly Republican) gets stuck with ilk like Bloomberg, Schumer, Gillibrand, Espada etc. Through sheer population, NYC negates all the rest of the states votes.
2. Bloomberg pulled a Hugo Chavez and got himself another term.
http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN234450562...
This state as a whole gets screwed by NYC in every election. Personally, I'd like to see it become the District of NY, sever it from the state, like Washington DC and not count their votes in with the rest of the state....redistrict it so it becomes it's own burrough so to speak.
In point 1) you have made the best argument for keeping the electoral college.
If the presidency was decided on popular vote, highly populated cities of the country,(LA, Chicago, NY city, etc) would always negate the votes of the rest of the country.
This is the reason four founding fathers set it up the way they did.

Understood, but those of us in Upstate NY cannot expect to enjoy many of the other constitutional rights we are afforded by that very wonderful document, if NYS government continues to relieve us of our tax dollars to support the City Proper.

Still trying to figure out where the line should be drawn and considering the Electoral College angle, well...may change my opinion to a degree.

Thank you for an interesting post Shamrock.

A man who wants to keep his paycheck for himself and his family is a selfish, greedy SOB.I work around(and sometimes you really DO have to work around)several single baby mamas. They are counting on Obama to help their "American family and children".They want more help with healthcare, dental bills, child care expenses.I pointed out that the company is looking for people to work overtime. They could pull a couple of extra shifts to catch up on the bills.Their comments were colorful. They want me to work the overtime and for Obama to give the money to them.I would rather legalize prostitution and let them put their ass(et's) to work.Considering their work ethic here;i already know they can fake it.
