Way to Go!

Parents - keep teaching your kids a life of video games and fast food.

Totally parents fault. It's too bad that junk food is 10x cheaper that healthy food. A bag of apples and oranges cost about $7.00 where i live.

Their parents should be arrested and brought up on child abuse charges.

It's no secret... it all starts with the parents. Lazy parent's = lazy kids. Active family = active kids. And the article ends with a jab at schools... Well, what about the parent's that take their kids to Mickey D's for dinner after school? As a parent, I'll confess I do it once in a while but I play outside with my kid on bikes, at the park, swimming, etc. We all stay active together.

I agree it is the parents fault. A lot of times if the parent(s) is over weight/obese then the kids are the same. I have a very hard time as a parent understanding why you would let you child get to that point. Even if genetics are to blame (so some say, which I am 50/50 on), you just have to work harder on changing the situation. I will also agree that junk food is cheaper then healthy food. But in the long run all that junk food will add up and become very expensive to your health. I am not saying take fast food and junk away, but in moderation and activity there shouldn't be a problem.

I liked how they snuck that little snippet into the article. To blame the school for the over weight issue is insane.

A school will typically provides @ 5 lunches per week for approx. 9 months out of the year. Who's taking responsibilty for feeding the kids during the time they are NOT in school?

The parents have to be held responsible for their child's health issues. But then again, the parents are the one's complaining about how they have to put locks on the cabinets to keep their kids out of the junk food. Stop buying the junk, and start buying healthy. That won't kill ya!

Listen to the Physical Education Coach that is trying to get your children to exercise, they know what they are talking about. But oh NO, instead we have the over weight mother or father writing the P.E. teacher a note to " Please excuse Tommy or Juanito from running today, he is feeling sick". How do these parents know that their overweight child will not enjoy life more if they are able to lose some weight. Overweight parents should encourage their children to lose weight, eat right and make smart choices. Lets remember that children will follow in the parents footsteps.

It's to the point that you have to watch every thing you say as to not offend anyone anymore. And by the way, what did the Natzis ever do do blacks?

Why is it when someone says something about drugs, black people think it is directed towards them? I think what the person meant was with your attitude about fat kids that you might as well sell them crack, because you arent doing them any good with your attitude.

Not everything is racial, just a lot of people make it that way!

Actually, yeah it will. My cousin ate 'healthy' all her life.... she died recently at the age of 40, with 'arteries like an old man's'. So it is not WHAT you eat, it is what preservatives are put in what you eat and genetics, by and large.
Personally, I was underweight all through to high school and further. You know how I did it? By starving myself, and I am NOT joking here!
I was eating BARELY 500 calories a day in order to say at the correct weight for my height. I got tired of that bullcrap in college and realized "Hey, if I cannot eat like a regular person and stay thin.... then I am just not MEANT to be thin!"
