WOW, I have been screeming Labor supportive sentiments, but I have no links, so thanks. These people that actually argue for Massey on hear have no clue about what the real issues are. The support the "establishment" on every issue. Whats funny is, the biggest establishment-government, they now, pretend to hate, because the current majority government actually puts common people ahead of corporation, which is not their principle.
I just cant believe that any West Virginian(stupid to smart), would EVER support ANYTHING that 1 destroys our peoples health 2 destroys our work force 3 destroys our land. MTR is the #1 reason WV is near the top of jobless rates.
One can only believe it's insanity right? People are pissed. More and more that are finding out about what is going on here and taking a stand. Change is coming. There is a surprising level of support for banning MTR in Congress. Change is coming. The sooner the better.

Haven't you heard? Change is coming --- it's nuclear!! And states are lining up to take the waste. Kentucky is one, so WV is sure to follow, since mining is going to be abolished (or so I've heard).

But there is one facility almost ready to take all the radioactive waste from existing plants. After years of study to find the perfect storage spot & millions in funding to ready the site, Obama and Harry Reid killed that with one stroke of the pen the Yucca mountain facility was killed right after the obama took the oath of office.

I don't know about other folks, but I'd rather face 10 environmental mining threats than 1 nuclear disaster. But, hey - nuclear brings jobs....just nimby (not in my back yard). Gotta keep an eye on this..might have to make a stand.

Yes, I agree. We do need to keep an eye on that.Nuclear isn't the solution. Wind energy and solar energy is the safest alternative.

That isn't a alternative in MY eyes. Just another example of the government looking to line their pockets.

Freedom of speech allows me to say that people like 'informed citizen' needs to experience whats it's like to have her babies ripped out of her arms in the next black water flood from a slurry dam! She needs the foundation cracked on her house from the blasting! She needs her water polluted from the dumping of toxic waste being dumping into the ground! Then her and others like her will have the right to poke fun.

Freedom of speech is a great thing. It allows you to post every radical environmentalist site & ask folks to read and learn.

I post the other side of the agenda of those environmentalists who've been working for over 40 years to shut down coal as well as eradicate the use of all fossil fuels. Freedom of speech gives you the right to use Topix to recruit for you cause and it gives me the right to show just what the groups and leaders are trying to achieve.

Just like this article talks about stacking a board with environmentalists to institute cap and trade on a state-wide basis, we also have this in WV with Simonton (D. Scott Simonton, P.E., Ph.D., Vice-Chair) on the WV Environmental Board writing reports on Marsh Fork school & the acitivists scream "why doesn't the governor listen to their own experts", ignoring the fact that other folks serve on the board.

It's an agenda of the radical left-wing activists trying to control every aspect of the country.

http://www.wveqb.org/board.asp

Here's some information about RAN, it's founder and please note that Roselle has moved to Coal River to continue his fight.

Is New Mexico the Battleground for the Enviro War?

There's a fascinating post at New Mexico Watchdog by Jim Scaratino on appointee shenanigans by Dem Gov. Bill Richardson and the potential consequences such will have for Big Brother environmental policy.

.....Gollin is the president of the board of directors of the Rainforest Action Network, an environmental group co-founded by one of the nation’s first advocates and practitioners of environmental terrorism. RAN was co-founded by Mike Roselle, who helped start Earthfirst!, the first organization to openly advocate and practice eco-terrorism through of acts of destroying property and intimidation of those engaged in practices they deemed objectionable. Arson and other means of sabotage were promoted and taught to Earthfirst! associates.

More Conflicts of Interest On Environmental Improvement Board
By Jim Scarantino on January 25, 2010

Is Richardson stacking the court that can order a state-wide emissions cap of so-called greenhouse gases? As it is, the Environmental Improvement Board is chaired by a man paid by global warming activists to be their spokesman and lobbyist. Now a leader of one of the most aggressive and radical environmental groups will be joining him on the EIB.

For more background on Roselle’s activities go here and here for a very critical view. As the linked profile in Time states,“There is no such thing as too extreme for Mike Roselle.”

“One of the most radical of mainstream groups, one of the most mainstream of radical groups.”

Good grief, WV isn't the only State that produces coal, and we can deep mine all the coal we need, that's the way we used to do it. A few MTR people are pushing this fear and smear campaign against the President because the money isn't flowing in like it used to. They want to resurrect the George Bush days, because back then they had a license to steal, and rob the coal fields blind. The coal association in Washington hired a PR firm, that forged people's names on letters, and mailed them to the Congressmen saying they were opposed to climate control legislation. This is more of their dirty tricks.

If you really want the truth about MTR, go to Science, Mountaintop Removal Consequences, Jan.8, 2010. It is a staggering description of what MTR is doing and has already done to Appalachia. It tells how the EPA has failed to protect the people. Even so called reclaimed sites are leaking toxic metals into the water supply, and it can cause cancer, kidney disease, and birth defects. It states these sites can never be restored once they have been mined by this method. It is a clear cut indictment of the EPA and their collusion with the coal operators. It exposes it as what it really is-a national disaster.
