Out with the old, in with the new. It is both sad and exciting.

Tombstones removed. WOW! The dead and diseased is healing and sprouting its flowers to reveal bright red banners with UC on them. The dead tombstone markers have been removed. Who's bright idea was it to have tombstones in front of every building. I guess the same person who decided to have a statute of himself placed in The robert c byrd learning center.

I just guessing but I would guess the marble stones were from a company owned by one of Polk's buddies. That would fit with everything else they spent money on.

One of my nieces got her pharmacy degree at U. of Charleston so I think this is a plus for Beckley. Just too bad that a few administrators came in and ruined Beckley College that numerous students from surrounding counties got degrees from. I even went there for a couple of classes.

But, out with the old, in with the new. Let us hope that the future will be much brighter for college students in Beckley.
Changing colors

I agree totally about the color. Hopefully the dark colors will be replaced with the bright and lovely red of UC.

Much more appealing to the eye and will certainly lead to a higher level of academic rigor!

Some were replaced. Some were hired. Some of those hired are known for academic rigor. I wonder if UC will have public employee lists like MSU did?

Don't be so quick to conclude that everything is better now. You'd be surprised about the similarities between the two institutions. Just talk to someone at UC who is willing to be honest about their professional experiences there. It is sickening that so many of you think that UC is being presented as the savior. Consider the possibility that you may be deceived. Unless you worked at UC for any period of time, you have no idea about the inner workings of the institution- you only see the nice buildings, the growth, new programs, etc.

Excellent point. I will take a 'wait and see' attitude.

I liked the blue, gonna miss it and the representation of Beckley's own. Wish it had not failed and could have been saved. Is UC going to offer the same programs and/or all of their programs? And does this mean no sports for the Beckley campus? So solemn and sad. Best wishes to them :)

We must remember UC has only leased the buildings, they may not stay after the lease is up. The Mountain State Company they leased it from may have to sell all of the property to settle all of the law suits.

There were many good instructors at MSU. Some were not so good. But it was not the fault of the instructors what happened there. It was clearly the administration that was the problem. I know of many hard working, academically qualified, caring instructors who were at MSU.
