I wonder if Kennedy is going to snort a few prior to debating. I would hate to see him go through withdraws and embarrass himself even more! lol

This ought to be good. Like having a debate between Fidel and Raul about who did the most good for Cuba.

Nah, I'm sure that in this as in most things, you're wrong again. I haven't talked to him in a few months, but far as I know, he's ok.

I don’t know enough about the subject matter (MTR) to place an argument; in one instance MTR doesn’t seem all that bad & in another it does. Ask yourself, what is the alternative to MTR?

As far as Don Blankenship is concerned all of you folks should be proud he is a home grown genius. Yes, a home grown genius…grew up in Delorme, WV and used his PhD in common sense to get to where he is today. Personally, I am happy to see one of our own, as opposed to some foreign outsider running the company. Let me assure you, if some outsider were running Massey Energy, you folks would be licking the bread crumbs off the ground. What do I mean by that? An outsider could care less about you or your family. They would be worrying solely about the profits of the company.

As far as Robert Kennedy, Jr. I don't know his stance on the subject matter, but I will have to go read up on what is taking place with MTR. I have great respect for the Kennedy family as a whole.

Someone on another site stated Mr. Blankenship would be debating Robert Kennedy, Jr. next month on the subject matter. Do any of you have any information as to when & where this debate is taking place?

Don Blankenship should ask Robert F Kennedy, Jr. if he thinks it would be adviseable to shut down the Potomac River Generating Station which burns coal. It serves the greater DC area where all those crazy politicians live. Shutting down that power station would no doubt clean the air because the entire area would be without electricity and the law makers would go home - that's what cleans the air! As to MTR, it is our enviroment not theirs. If we should choose to take the tops off the mountains/hills, it's our choice. I refuse to believe we who live in them there hills need to be told we shant take the tops off the hills to get the coal to burn to make bright lites for the likes of the folks who live and work in DC. They are trying to impose upon us a way of life not of our choosing. I don't see anyone traveling to the DC area trying to tell those folks they should be eating pickled beans or pickled corn. I'm sure if we didn't want the tops of the hills removed our state legislators would impose restrictions to keep us voting for them.

Hey, those houses are built by closing mines to raise coal prices...alying off workers to get richer...destroying clean air and streams and causing health hazards to citiznes...he got it buying judges, I hear. If that's a beautiful thing to see, I hear China's looking for you blind loyalty to the government...they like citizens who turn their backs on their fellow countrymen....republicans should really apply to the mines in China...no safety requirements...and all the coal you can carry home for pay. Oh, how the republican god loves th erich.

Don't forget when Kennedy was in Charleston a month or so back, he clearly stated on camera that he had NOT been to a MTR site (active or reclaimed)! Nice to know that someone is attempting to appear knowledgeable on a subject that they haven't even seen!

BTW, is Kennedy arriving in his private jet or hybrid? He does claim to be an environmentalist after all...

Well, I think most of the nation now agrees...let WV choke on its pollution and dead streams..and let them rot on being unemployed with MTR and price gouging of coal and Massey going overseas. You guys have earned it.

The United Nations Backtracks: the Sky May Not be Falling After All

http://www.newsrealblog.com/2010/01/20/the-un...

Conclusion --“the IPCC, a UN Agency, wins a Nobel Prize for a “scientific report,” containing “research,” that was nothing more than the multiple paraphrasing of an eight year old article in a popular Indian magazine, which was based upon pure speculation. Now under fire, the IPCC is preparing to retract “elements” of its report.
You couldn’t even make this stuff up.”
~~~~~~~~~~
According to the article - by Claude Cartaginese
In 1999 -Indian scientist Syed Hasnain engaged in “speculations” about the melting of the world’s glaciers and wrote a piece about it for magazine about his musings
“By his own admission, Hasnain did not conduct any formal research, was not peer reviewed and was not published in any scientific journal.”
Later, the New Scientist. journal published article about Hasnain’s theory of the melting Himalayan glaciers.
In 2005, the radical environmentalist organization World Wildlife Fund (WWF), cited the New Scientist article in a report it produced titled:“An Overview of Glaciers, Glacier Retreat, and Subsequent Impacts in Nepal, India and China
“The WWF’s report, which was based on the New Scientist piece, which was based on the story in the Indian magazine, which published Hasnain’s thoughts 6 years earlier, came to the attention of the United Nations and its Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).”
2007, the IPCC issued report,
“which claimed to incorporate the latest research into the impact of global warming on the world’s glaciers.” and that the Himalayas could vanish by 2035 - a claim with absolutely no basis in fact.
And shared the Nobel Prize with Al Gore for it’s so-called research.
Conclusion --“the IPCC, a UN Agency, wins a Nobel Prize for a “scientific report,” containing “research,” that was nothing more than the multiple paraphrasing of an eight year old article in a popular Indian magazine, which was based upon pure speculation. Now under fire, the IPCC is preparing to retract “elements” of its report.
