Full story: The Baltimore Sun

About a year ago, Tia and Terry Meer built their dream house, an-off-the-grid log cabin, way back in the woods on the Econ River.

Do any of you granola people think that a utility company would invest billions in the infrastructure of a power grid, if they knew it would be easier and cheaper for an individual to produce the same result????? It amazes me how some of you greens have the brainpower to even get out of bed in the morning.

It's all relative people. What is paradise for you may be hell for me. Living with no AC, that is hell.

I'm happy for them (she is a little too hot for his goofy ass) but of course they are hypocrites.

I would like to hear about how they make the money to afford the mortgage on this place. Do they now, or did they ever work in an industry that is not "green".

I would also like them to present a plan on how this lifestyle is supposes to work with more than OOOOOOHHHH 2 PEOPLE PER 5 ACRES.

Aren't these the same type of goofy people that want us to live in condos, and take a train everywhere?

I fail to see how these people have harmed you. Why the animosity??

When western civilization disintegrates, particulary the United States, you'll be begging people like this to help you survive.

<quoted text>
It aint the tree huggers that will survive. That I can tell you. It is the rednecks the mountain people and formar military that will survive.

These pansy people that live "green" lives are living in a fantasy world. The novel little things they do to make themselves feel good will not work when the shite really hits the fan.

Who would you want as a neighbor? Some faaag that grows tomatoes or a redneck that knows how to make bio-deisel and bullets?

Well I used to work at an electric Utility and they are managed by people who could not care less about anything but their pocket book. They found ways to cheat as long as possible to keep green power from competing with them. But now alternative energy is so cheap they can't keep it out. We should all be using net metering with alternative energy's to reduce demand, save money for the consumer and reduce polution as we transfer to more and more renewable technologies.

I applaud the people for being off the grid, and wish I could be like them. They will never have to tell their kids they didn't care enough to help save the planet.

God bless them.

What is sad is that King Wrongeee started this thread to pick a fight about going green. The first poster of course is the one who starts the thread.

What Wrongeee doesn't get is that although we may keep using fossil fuel long enough for him to keep enjoying his air conditioning, it will be the young people near to him who will suffer. Not sure a person as sick as Wrongeee could care about little people in his family and among his neighbors, but them and their children will live in a world without air conditioning and with much hotter and more catastrophic weather than we have now. He is just a selfish nitwit with too much time on his hands and not enough sense to realize he is wrong.

Ahh an argument right out od "debate 1010" "make the other person feel guilty" Well guess what? it doesnt work when your argument o global warming is a fantasy. Every day more evidence arises of the lie of GW and even moderates that you tricked originally are saying WTF!!!! All Gore lied to us!

Keep believing the fantasy that solar can replace fossil fuels, IT IS ECONOMICALLY IMPOSSIBLE. Just look it up and stop lying to yourself.
