Karma has nothing to do with it and money/experience does.

The judge, David Burnett is now a State Senator with 63% of the vote so how do you explain that?

Now that Burnett is a state Sen. he will no longer be able to suppress the appeals of a case in which he had no business presiding over to begin with. What kind of state has laws where the trial judge is also the appeals judge. Pure ignorance! It's set up that way so no one can ever win an appeal.

Burnett was the trial judge and then he was the appeals court judge that ruled on the appeal? I've heard about the WM3 case, but I didn't realize Burnett served as judge in both capacities.

Please! Someone tell me that didn't actually happen that way!
