Keep voting this kind of thing down. We can use more of your young talent in Conway. Oh, by the way, our sales tax is 8.25% (without our hamburger tax) and I think we are doing fine.

So did those who opposed the tax. They believe that lower income people in our area cannot afford a higher grocery bill.

Personally, I want to see a new park, but I don't want to have it at the expense of those who can't afford to pay for it.

We can, and will, come up with a means to fund this project that doesn't require us to drive up the grocery bills of people who can't afford it. Maybe we will be using, a public fund, built from voluntary private donations, to fund this project.

It's unfortunate, that Moving Batesville Forward tied a sales tax increase to the project. It would have passed without the increased sales tax. Maybe with a more open ended or donation-driven model for a project that isn't a necessity. Difference between wants and needs.
