"Although it was recently discovered, the methane release probably isn’t new. Gradual warming has steadily led to higher sea levels during the past 8,000 years or more, Shakhova said, which has resulted in an inundation of of seawater over the shallow and previously exposed permafrost-covered shelf."

Since you don't have Bush to blame you could claim that this happened on obama's watch. Lame brain!

As if this hasn't been benignly going on for millions of years and is suddenly a threat to life on earth.

These people will grasp at any straw regardless of how retarded it makes them look.

Totally amazing.

Even more strange though, the global warming pseudo-scientists aren't invading Europe's bogs and Louisiana for swamp gas.

Guess they forgot about that one.

methane is many times more effecient at trapping heat than CO2.

more warming = more methane = more warming = more methane

here we go ... we are screwed...and remember when / where you heard that

Natural gas has been leaking from the earth and from the ocean bottoms for centuries. Some of the gas bubbles escaping from the ocean floor are a mile in diameter.
You, apparently, live directly over a gas leak. Its obvious you got brain damage from somewhere.

How did an abortion addict like you ever have kids anyway? Take heart in the idea that your lesbian daughter won't be likely to reproduce.

Woof, Foolmind, Riddle me this. If methane is as you say an inexorable part of an unstoppable warming chain of events, why is it frozen in the Arctic Tundra? If what you said is true in your post, the Earth, especially the Arctic could only have become hotter from its beginning.

Woof, Foolmind, In fact, I have already apologized to my progeny, for allowing Progressives and environmental fruitcakes from gaining the power they have. I have sworn to them to do everything within my legal power to fight them.

1. "As if this hasn't been benignly going on for millions of years and is suddenly a threat to life on earth."
It is not a threat to life on earth, a climate change will just cause different human geography. Whether or not is 'benign' depends on where you live and how change impacts that place. If you are on a low lying island in the Pacific it may be the end of the world.
2. "These people will grasp at any straw regardless of how retarded it makes them look."
You imply that anyone who doesn't see things your way is retarded. Have you personally examined the data and identified the variations of seasons, cycles and separated eliminated the white noise and measured the trend. Much of the data is readily available, but not easy to understand without rigorous analysis. Look at this simple table as a beginning: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/tabledata/G...
Maybe they are dealing with matters that are beyond your ability to comprehend.

One thing you can be sure of; the media is over dramatizing the situation. If you believe what they say, you will very likely be wrong. Changes will not be like a disaster movie.

iceburgs melting raises water levels and helps to create carbon dioxide instead of methane when mixing with oxygen in water. still don't know anything. powerless and cluless.

We are all to blame.

Bush did more than his share.
