ENSO only shifts heat around. Between the ocean and the air, and between the equator and poles. It cannot change the total thermal content. Nor is there a trend in the ENSO cycles. It alternates between La-Nina and El-Nino. It may be responsible for the 'flattening' of the warming trend in air temperatures in the last decade or so but that is it..

Dr. Roy Spencer is the source of this drivel. I guess he is sort of a scientists but after getting the MSU analysis wrong EIGHT TIMES to try to 'prove' there is no AGW, I don't have much faith in his objectivity OR his analysis.

It's not exactly obvious whether Spencer has used real cloud observations to put into his model, or simply tweaked the cloud variable to fit the model.

He has form in manipulating simplistic models to get the result he wants- the editor who published his last paper resigned when the errors in the paper were pointed out.

Why was this paper published in an obscure foreign journal?

Roy Spencer is a "God's in his heaven, so global warming can't be real" intelligent designer- he just doesn't want to believe God booby trapped the Earth, which probably explains why he continues to search for justifications for denial of the seriousness of AGW.

All valid concerns.

Especially, satellite data don't go so far back. By the way, this paper supplement incorporates satellite data in analysis.
