The US Naval academy should be schooling naval cadets.
If they wish to 'worship', they can do it on their own dime in their own church.
End of story.

lol You must read from the Liberal handbook on the interpretation of scripture, don't you? Well Nettie,, whether you believe it or not,, this could very well be the beginning of the end..I can't say 100% it is but it looks like it. We are told to watch but you are evidently telling our Lord He don't know what He's talking about, aren't you?
You also seem to dismiss prophecy out of hand,, you treat the Word of God like a smorgasbord,, just look through it and pick what you want and leave the rest. You are in for a rude awakening and when it comes you are gonna wonder what's going on. I believe you are just a closet liberal atheist,, why don't you come on out?
If Jesus told us that it is not for us to know, then why go around proclaiming we are in the end days?

It is pure speculation to predict, to say; one who says we are in the 'end times' is a false prophet!

We are told to look forward to Christ's return with joy! You, Wayne, spread the fear of watching for it!

If He told us it is not for us to know,,then what is Matthew 24 all about? True,, we won't know the days but we are told to watch the signs.

Catholics have a different view on the End Time prophecies.

Resurrection of the dead.
Followed by a universal judgment.
The destruction of the world. This will be done by a command of Jesus Christ, not as a result of atomic wars, or geological or astronomical disturbances.
The faithful will live and reign with Christ forever.

Studying end times prophets should draw one closer to God, not away from Him. It should not bring on a morbid preoccupation of the end times. It should not lead one to wish for the damnation of others or the hasten destruction of the world.

We should not concern ourselves about when Christ will return but prepare ourselves to be holy in Christ.

I believe the antichrist has been active in the world since the first century.

Interesting how fast people defend those who are attempting not only to destory Religion, but our Consitutional Rights as well.

And at least one of them claims to be a Christian. Interesting.

Upholding the Constitution does not destroy rights at all. How could it?

Don't see how maintaining separation of church and state could possible destroy Christianity!

Christianity is alive and well and always will be.

How do I know? Because the Church that Christ founded will still be alive and well when He returns. He said that the gates of hell will never prevail against it!

Don't you believe what Christ said, Kerdy?

Let's see now, you do not understand separation of church and state....
You do not understand that our Constitution upholds freedom of religion....
You don't understanding that in upholding the Constitution, your rights are protected, not violated....

I do not believe you would know a real Christian when you see one either!!

Why would you say that about anyone who is a Christian and an American citizen? I am both! Are you?

Or, are you foolishly attempting to brand anyone who does not believe our nation's government should be influenced by certain religious groups as non-Christian?

LOL Kerdy, YOU are the ugly American, not me.

Kerby seems to forget that Baptists have always been on the forefront in the effort to keep church and state separate. It was in reply to a letter from a Baptist church that Jefferson used the expression.

That is, until the 1950s and later, when the Dominionists took control of the SBC. I remember Rev Maynard, when I was in fifth or sixth grade, getting up and telling the congregation of the SBC church, that we should all do our civic duty (presumably those old enough) and vote our conscious but warned the congregation not to even ask him who he was voting for - that it was nobody's business.

Government should stay out of the church and church should stay out of the government, and to take government money invites the government in.

One of the reasons this country is still going is there are SOME true Christians in government,,When they are gone you will see what "separation of church and state" REALLY means and you won't like it.

Is there a requirement in our Constitution that our nation's leaders be of a certain faith?

I've been doing some research into what the Bible has to say about this because I am a Baptist who has always believed in the separation of Church and State.
This belief has caused me to be labled as a liberal by some of my "Republican" brothers. I'm obviously not all that liberal because I've always believed in living a very simple life, as close to God as possible which makes me poor in others eye's because I rely on God to provide more so than myself.
What I've found is that Jesus left this World in the hands of those who could be considered enemies of God because they are smarter about the world than the Children of light are, they desire the seats in high places.
They will be judged according to how they deal with God's people.

This seems to uphold the belief that Church and State should remain separate.

I don't know when anyone got the idea that Christians do not believe in or back separation of church and state?
I and the Christians I know very much believe in it and have no problem believing that the FF did also because they didn't want the gov. running their life in if the believe in God and how they worship Him.
Although separation does not mean a "ban" on church or religion, they would not have had "in God we trust" for one.
Separation was to keep the gov. from sanctioning ONE church, so that people had the freedom to worship without interference, the state made up it's own rules/laws it had nothing to fear from churches!
