Known about this one for a long time.
The usual depth for rock healing (mineralisation) reactions is in the region of 10Km depth and below, via metamorphic fluids, which causes fault locking within a few months due to mineral precipitation from pore fluids into the lower pressure void space produced by fault slippage.

The minimum depth of mineralisation reactions vary according to the rock type. Limestone, and carbonate cemented sandstones may seal via carbonate precipitation up to the level of the nearest freshwater aquifer stagnation level, and occasionally above this level if dripstone formations in karst caverns are present in the aquifer catchment.
