I am from Detroit and live now in L.A. I feel alot safer in Rosarito - As someone who has traveled in Russia, Turkey etc. I stay in well lit areas, avoid drug scene and do not flash money around - locals are nice and helpful. I will be going back soon.

I think Mexico can campaign all they want. But the real question is, is it truly safe? I don't think so! Despite what Mexican tourism officials are claiming. The fact of the matter is that I think everyone has been affected by there out of control country and if your smart you will heed the warning and stay in the U.S. The drug war over there has no respecter of persons. We have seen this through the news. The police are just as involved in this outrages corruption of people and drugs. I think you can agree with me there as well. I think everyone has a story or two. Or at least knows of some one that has had some kind of outrages act committed on them. You know, getting pulled over for that so called infraction that you committed. Then having to pay the police officer a fee so you can go home. Otherwise have your car towed away. Or not stopping for the stop sign, when you know you did. Again having to pay so that you don't go to jail or have your car towed. This is OUTRAGES! Then Mexican tourism official say it is safe. Please!!! Are we all some kind of fools? So why would you continue to give them any of your money. There are many other place to go and have fun Unites States (Las Vegas, Laughlin, Palm Springs etc...) besides as Americans it should be our duty to stimulate our economy, not some foreign country, that smuggles all of there garbage into the U.S. By giving them your money you contribute in keeping those murders, thieves, corrupt politicians and crooked cops rich and wealthy, while all there drugs rip apart our families and our society. These people are opportunist and don't care about you or your kids and family. They just want your money and anything that will benefit themselves. Besides who do you think is going to help you over there if you get into any trouble or kidnapped? Just think about it..... STAY OUT OF MEXICO!!!!

Have you spent any time in Mexico or just blindly repeating what you read? We travel to Mexico at least 4x per year and NEVER have a problem. The people are warm, friendly and not unlike you and me. I don't visit LA or SD in the drug areas and I won't do it in Mexico. I don't travel to unknown neighborhoods late at night in LA or SD. I don't do it in Mexico. What's the big difference. The news in SD & LA is non-stop rape, car jackings, murders and kidnappings - at least the first 20 minutes of the news. I truly believe that you are more likely to have something bad happen to you in the US than a tourist in Mexico. Get some 1st hand knowledge instead of just reading what you want to believe even if its not the truth.
