FDA Still Cautious About Bone Drugs
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says doctors need to reassess which women are likely to benefit from popular bone-building drugs, given the lack of evidence showing that taking them for the long term really helps and the possibility that they put some women at risk for rare but serious side effects.Full Story

I do hope that the FDA will do something about it in terms of controlling how it is given. In this way, if serious side effects happen, it will be controlled.

This is just expected as we all know how huge the impact of Fosamax and femur fractures issues have been.

The use of bone drugs such as Fosamax has indeed resulted to a number of burgeoning reports of its adverse effects. The FDA has lots on its hands about side effects of drugs. One of it is the Fosamax which has a few health updates since they were released. The advisory panel of the FDA is looking at the long term effect of Fosamax. More than five years of using the drug puts a person at risk for adverse effects such as femur fracture and osteonecrosis of the jaw. It's sad that new information is not forthcoming and that government authorities will not make a ruling on a drug that continues to cause more suffering than good. The drawbacks of taking bisphosphonates like Fosamax are well-documented and if not conclusively proven then at least there should be stringent warnings and a stronger stance taken by the authorities.
