I have had this since I was a baby. I can remember the way you describe, plus the other way too, as in lists or for example working at the post-office I knew more than was normal. I always felt like it was more of a curse. I always joke that I cannot wait till I am old and forget with amnesia I will then be at peace. I can analyze things by "remembering" it when I was not there, as in literature. I remember the emotions of a similar situation that is described and explain it from what I see and feel. It is weird. I do not try to remember everything on paper, only when it is necessary I click into something and I cannot explain it. I was born this way. I remember everything. Its quite arduous if I may say so.

In my life I can remember things in vivid detail. I can't remember everything but. I can remember events, good and bad, that happened in my life. I can go back to when I was as young as 3 years old. I can't recall every day but, it is a large portion of my life
I tend to correct people because their version is not how it happened, I've tried to bite my tongue and let it go. It's tough to do
I believe it is a curse, I will remember things that most have forgotten and moved on. I can't seem to do that.
I wish I could forget things, it is a curse
