Unfortunately, the latest incarnation of anti-semitism has taken the form of "Blame Israel for Everything". There is unprovoked genocide being committed in Darfur and other places---yes but, what about Gaza? Iran is actively working (according to their rhetoric) to build nuclear weapons to destroy Israel(first), The US, and all "unbelievers"--It MUST be Israel's fault! there are Jews who work in the financial sector so Jews are to blame for the financial collapse, and it goes on...One thing I have learned in my almost 60 years of life is that there are no simple answers to complex problems. To unravel these issues rationally requires that people think critically and resist the simplistic temptation to jump on the rhetorical bandwagon on both sides of the political divide. Remember the words of our great sage of blessed memory "If I am not for myself then who will be for me? If I am only for myself then what am I?" Israel, like all of us, is struggling to keep this balance with people who largely are not playing by the same rules. I believe that no matter what Israel does concerning Gaza the radical Islamists will still want to destroy them. As far as the Occupy movement goes, I believe in fixing the world as a whole will only happen if we start at home first. Occupy yourself first--be here now, pay attention to what you say and what you do, be the change you wish to see in the world. Take back your neighborhood--not with force but with acts of loving kindness. Help your neighbors--MEET your neighbors--advocate for more housing and healthcare--VOLUNTEER--these are the issues most pressing within our immediate circle of concern. It is very sad that such a positive grass-roots movement has been hijacked by the Anti-Israel people. Shalom und gut Shabbas!
