UC Davis scholar pleads not guilty to vandalism after George Zimmerman verdict
A doctoral student in anthropology pleaded not guilty Friday to charges he smashed the window of a downtown Men's Warehouse store during a protest last week.

While property destruction is a valid protest tactic, destroying property when a movement has support and momentum the police are keeping their distance and nationally there's a conversation and change possibly happening--totally bad use. When you use a tactic in a city where your actions are automatically associated with the same racial judgments that leads to young people of color being killed while at the same time people of color from oakland are resisting peacefully--- not good. Smashing windows of indepdent restaurants that employ people from oakland because you think smashing the window is the first step towards returning the oakland dowtown to some anarchist utopian farm---dumb. Go back to concord, I'm happy your parents have the money to buy you a lawyer and don't come back until the situation or environment warrents targeted use of more aggressive forms of protest.
