I pray she gets the band back to the way it was when Hodges director. I am ashamed to say I was part of the program after seeing them the last several years. They had nooooooo discipline compared to us.

I helped all 3....Hodges had zero personality and was exceptionally rude, even to staff. David was nice to work with and as far as discipline, well that starts at home. Brooke will be fine and yes I'll be helping there again and with David at Tusculum. My kids did not major in Music because the disliked Hodges 45 minute beratings over a 5 min problem. He had some issues. Look back on some threads and you'll see that a Drummer is said to be selling pills or whatever. Now THATS a problem.

I hope she does a good job also! I attend the home football games and I used to love to watch the band, but the last few years the song choices are no good. Several years ago there was a "jazz" show that was real good. Just been boring the last few years though.

I am hoping for great things from Brooke. Price had no control or discipline, nor did he understand being a band director. The football shows were bad in sound and marching, and the concert band just sounded lazy. Good luck, Brooke. Make us proud again!

I would like to point out that "too much control"
results in lawsuits to the school. Its not like it used to be when the students said "Yes Sir" and "No Sir". You can thank the ACLU and as I said I discovered one of the Drummers was selling pills.
Push-ups are not a form of discipline, Grade cuts or 3 day dismissals are , but poor little johny might get his feelings hurt......again it starts at HOME and some old fashioned ass-whuppin !

I would like to know more about the assertion that a "Drummer" is selling pills. Where can I find this information.

Obviously you were NEVER in a superior rated band. Hodges was great, he never "berated" or yelled at anyone unless they did something stupid and most of the time he let the students (squad/section leaders) handle it. He was a great leader and mentor. As far as discipline, I didn't mean punishment. What I meant was when the group is standing at attention there should be no movement, AT ALL on the field, including instruments. When the band is marching, everyone should be on the same foot and in phase with each other. And I heard many bands, smaller than Greeneville sound 10X louder. I did my share of push ups and have no complaints. Football players ran until they puked 15 years ago when they messed up. I have never heard of any lawsuits over anything Hodges did. Maybe you should take your titty out of your kids mouth and let them grow up.

Obviously I WAS in a superior rated band.....1's for 4 years. Lawsuits are common with music programs now.
See you at the practice field This Summer. Did you get a scholarship to UT in Music.....I did.

In the Know, I gave Pete numerous Old School arrangements but there were always excuses. He would call and ask if I had recordings and Videos of various Drum and Bugle Corps and I gave them to the band to use. BUT.....Pete hated Drum Corps and screamed and yelled at me and Coach Franklin for trying to get ours up and running again. Does the names Niles and Todd ring a bell to you? Pete simply had some temper issues. If you think I should not volunteer instruct then BY ALL MEANS call Brooke.
I reccomended her to the Principal. Repeat:....Call Brooke and tell her she does not need me.

I didn't try for UT, not because I couldn't hang, because I wanted to go to ETSU, which I did get a music scholarship there and made the Wind Ensemble as a freshman, which doesn't happen everyday. So.....lets see who has the stronger chops, hon. The kids deserve a good program and director and thats what they are finally getting since Hodges has been gone. This thread is for Brooke not your accomplishments, so get off it already.

I agree with you about Paul Hinman. Very fine Band Director. Still a personal friend in the area of Drum Corps. I enjoyed his band after I left UT.
Sanderbeck is a first class percussion instructor.
BTW....I did not "Try" for UT.....I was invited. Same
as Brooke. You wanna compare Chops? Come on over and I'll play and you can. I play only once a year. If you doubt my technique ask Brooke.

I never said Brooke didn't need you, so stop putting words in my mouth! I'm sure that you're the only reason Brooke got the position and she had nothing to do with it. LOL. PLEASE.

I know Niles and Todd very well. Why don't you worry about your son fighting for his life and quit posting your BS opinions on here. I was involved with the Drum Corp that we tried to start up during the 94-95 school year, and there wasn't enough interest, it had nothing to do with Hodges. Again, this is about Brooke and the GHS band, not you! Now go smoke your 3 packs of cigarettes and keep looking like a child molester.

Your sick......Todd is in Los Angeles right now under treatment. You should come to practice and support the band. This Venus is totally inappropriate
for your comments. The latter comment is totally uncalled for and is quite libelous.
