' The issue of same-sex "marriage" provokes strong emotions and actions on both sides of the debate with little common ground seemingly to be found.

“One of them is what radical, homosexual-activists will do with the new institution of same-sex ‘marriage’ and use it as a battering ram across America to blast open new areas that ultimately diminish the rights of Christians to express their faith in their lives and how they live.”

Cuckoo, cuckoo! Yeah, it's the gay community that fought to deprive straight people of the right to marriage. Oh whoops, my mistake, it was the fundies and religious types that deprived gay people the right to marry all over the country. Man, those gays need to get a new battering ram. Maybe they could borrow a fundie battering ram.

Anyway I thought Christians were supposed to embrace being persecuted. Yes or no?

I was brought up in Roman Catholicism and only recently officially converted to Unitarian/Universalism. I had 12 years of Roman Catholic Education and understand ALL TOO WELL the religious.

Yeah, maybe the LGBTI community should agitate to prohibit marriage, adoption, co-habitation, job-discrimination protection etc. etc. for Christian Fundamentalist/Reconstructioni st/Domininionist types. Oh yeah, that'd win friends and influence people.

I have a better idea. Let's all ignore all religious sects who would demonize and persecute certain segments of the population based on THE WAY THEY WERE BORN....
by walking away from their collection plate. Especially the Roman Catholics, who seem to be funneling that money into a slush fund to shield their pedophile/ephebophile clerical contingent, of which there are MANY, right up to the highest levels in the Vatican.

A good portion of you out there reading this are ENABLERS/CO-DEPENDENTS in this regard, like the "Good Germans" who looked the other way when Hitler and his bully-boys were bashing in trade-unionist and Communist/Socialist heads and only talking about killing off the Jews.

So hopefully some of you will listen and walk the walk rather than merely talk the talk.

To the rest of you, I have a quote from the man you purport to be the founder of your sect,
Y'Shua Bin Yusef......

Hi Jim - nice post. Unitarianism is the way to go my friend. Although I would say there are many Roman Catholic laity and clergy who have liberal views, and are equally appalled by the sex abuse cases and evident hypocrisy shown by the vatican.

Christians are to embrace persecutions for Christ's Name sake and His righteous, not for perverse sin.

Great, And If they need a little male on male action they should sneak around mens restrooms to find a tom to service like a good Christian.LOL

That is the only difference from the way it is now to the so called good old days. The percentage of homosexuals is not changing only less hidding now.

Well then, as a follower of Christ, would you mind pointing out just one single aspect of Christ's life which would lead you to believe He condemned homosexuals?

You see, Christ ran into a homosexual, via the Roman Centurion, and didn't say "Go and sin no more", like He did with adulterers, etc, but said, instead, "Never have I seen faith greater than this" so Christ not only didn't condemn homosexuals but gave them His highest approval rating. You see, you too easily want to use God to justify your own bias and, sorry Bubba, but that just isn't going to work. Why don't you try to live your life with what Christ taught and not through your own narrow viewpoints?

Uh...yeah...that part is absolutely right. I've been saying the same for years. It is quite obvious to anyone who listens to the rhetoric coming out of the gay community that the ultimate desire is to chip away at religious freedom unless religious communities cease condemning the homosexual lifestyle.

You are too funny dude, the text does not mention the Roman Centurion was gay.
And yes Christ did speak of marriage in Matthew 19:4, how did Christ refer to marriage, well He quoted from Genesis, that "God made them male and female from the beginning." How awesome that Christ Himself used the word of God to answer questions.
Christ also taught this, here are His words....

Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand.- Jesus Christ

Repent from sinful lifestyles sinners, basically what Jesus said there. For the King is coming and His kingdom where thee immoral will have no place in His kingdom. Repent.

Just typing what Jesus Himself said.

In your beloved Matthew scripture Christ goes on to speak of homosexuals as "born eunuchs" and He does not condemn them. btw, do you even know your history??? Have you maybe seen "Sparticus"? Roman men having younger male slaves as lovers was quite common and the term used to describe the younger male lover was "pias" which is exactly how the Gospels describe the youth. Even without the definition of "pias" known it's not too hard to figure out a Roman soldier isn't going to be so passionate to save some maid nor cook but the person he's in love with.

btw2, you must really hate dealing with facts especially the one that informs us you're nothing but an ignorant bigot.

Religious freedom? Do you maybe realize we live in the United States where your religious views are NOT suppose to be determining who gets and does not get certain rights. You can have your "views" all you want but when you start using those views to take away the rights of others then you need to be stopped.

btw, it's just too classic this homophobia is coming from a gay man and it's just pathetic 99% of the homophobia from men stems from men who can't deal with their own queerness.

Grow up.

Bigot definition
Main Entry:bigot
Pronunciation:*bi-g*t
Function:noun
Etymology:Middle French, hypocrite, bigot
Date:1661

: a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices

You hold to your opinions, right? And your own prejudices? Sounds hypocritical to me.
And what I share and type is from God. God is truth.
The text does not mention the Roman centurion was gay.
We went over that eunuch context soo many times already, it is irrelevant to what God says about what is right and wrong.

Like Jesus Himself answered when questioned about marriage, He quoted Genesis ch1, God made them male and female. The Greatest Teacher Christ said it Himself.

Bible Teacher, McHate is one of the biggest bigots in this forum. He just thinks his bigotry is so much better when wrapped in the flag of "Gay Victimization".

You don't get it, do you??? "Pais" was the Greek word used to describe the younger male lover in a homosexual relationship and the Bible specifically describes it as the Centurion's pais. As for Matthew, you're once again ignoring historical facts as to homosexuals being "born eunuchs" and you'll have to figure out the difference between being bigoted against bigots versus being a bigot.

How is ANYONE voting away your rights??? That's insane. So you think YOU being able to determine how SOMEONE ELSE lives is a right of yours??? It's insane you guys are so friggin ignorant you can't tell the difference between these things. Please by all means give me just one example how the LGBT community is trying to vote away the rights of Christians BESIDES allowing Christians to decide how the LGBT community lives?

I am sure when you read or see a thief steal, you say "that's wrong", why? Because it is wrong. So, me and countless others say homosexuality "is wrong", why? Because it is wrong. You just don't like it when someone calls what you think is right, wrong. So what do you do, whine.

BT, I've always believed that born eunuchs were those born with sexual deformities, not homosexuals. Is this your belief, as well.
