If that is the way you truly feel then you should vote for tommy.

This blog along with all the others really worries me about the corruption of our world and what everything has come to. It is increasingly obvious that the day of our Lord's coming is drawing near. Prophecy is being fulfilled daily, and at a faster pace than ever before. As I watch the news and see things that are happening all over the world, it makes me wonder has the 70th week of Daniel already begun? We need to all come together and love one another and support one another as God wants us to. The days of the Great Tribulation is approaching quickly and we need to get right and get ready.

Jimmy Jackson was my uncle who was murdered in 1985 and a cover up was done by the ex sheriff. He was asked to investigate it but he said to many people were involved.

Have you been at the jail when this so called cussing took place or are you going on HEARSAY.
Next do you know what led up to the cussing if it did indeed did happen.
I am not saying it did not happen but have youy went all your life with out cussing or getting mad.
Next are you in L E O and have you had to deal with inmates who know how to push the envelope?

What was the presumed motive behind the killing? How many people were involved? What did Wayne have to gain by covering it up?

I see, so if someone pushes your buttons, you can say and do whatever you want to them or is that just law enforcement? I got a feelin that we be charged with disorderly conduct, assault, and terroristic threats if it was one of us. Or maybe we just get da taser like that man a month ago.

The way I have heard it is he was fighting someone and they pushed him into a tree and his head hit a knot. Then they faked an accident scene. I have talked with people who know someone who seen what happened. And they say Wayne Hooks was kin to the ones that did it. When we asked him to investigate it he just said to many were involved. So he knows.

I feel for your loss and your family's loss. I want to point out that the way you described your uncle's death indicates that he was not murdered. If he and the other man were fighting and your uncle died as a result of that fight, then murder is not the charge. The charge would be involuntary manslaughter. The Georgia Statute of Limitations is 7 years and that is long gone. I know this is not exactly what you wanted to hear. There is not much Tommy or anyone will be able to do in this case.

Unless it could be proven that the person that took your uncle's life had actually intended to take your uncle's life, then the case is pretty much over.

Furthermore, if you have talked to people that knew someone who was there then you have to weigh the veracity of the stories. This occurred almost 24 years ago so how sharp can their memories be.

Why were they fighting?

I would also be careful of accusing people of murder over the internet (not saying that you are, but sometimes preception is reality) because that may open you up to civil liability.

Maybe there is a wrongful death civil suit out there, but you would have to talk to a no-crap slick lawyer to pull that off.

Law Dog is correct except that it would be voluntary manslaughter. An illegal act (fighting) done in an unlawful manner is voluntary. A legal act done in an unlawful manner is involuntary. Either way, Law Dog is right, unless it was murder (which according to the story you told and the one around Treutlen County would indicate that it wasn't) then the statutes of limitations have run out. Furthermore, are you sure that the case wasn't presented to the Grand Jury?

Wanye Hooks was somewhat right in that multiple combatants in a fight resulting in an accidental death would not likely make it past a grand jury....and never to a trial. If the DA was shit-hot about the case, then he could try to charge murder hoping for a plea to manslaughter.

It is an unfortunate case any way you look at it and perhaps a miscarriage of justice. Tommy Corbin shouldn't have to carry that burden since the statute of limitations were up almost 12 years before he took office. There really is very little that can be done in this case. Even if you got the original combatants to admit to it now, there is no way to corroborate their confessions and a confession without corroboration is worthless in our justice system.

Law Dog needs to buy me lunch.:-)
