The Australian Labor Party has made a lot of progressive contributions to Australian society- many of the economic. You might not agree with many of them, but you certainly can't say "Australians neither desired or needed" them. Very partisan thinking, isn't it?
* Australians were never consulted on multiculturalism - ie, altering the cultural and racial composition of the country. Not everyone regards it as a good thing, especially since it has failed so dismally in every Western country.
Whitlam did some good things but they were outweighed by the bad. That's why he was voted out in a landslide.
Re Rudd - I don't agree with anything he has done so far. He's an empty suit.
