WTH Do these "scientists" ever actually study smokers? I used to smoke Kools then went to light menthols. Most adult smokers I know smoke lighter cigarettes for various reasons. Your study shows absolutely no evidence that these researchers asked anyone other than the geeks in the lab what the habits and preferences of actual people who smoke are.

So funny! It's obvious that you haven't read the original article in the AJPH, and that you you don't even understand the reporting about that article.

Here's a link to the abstract of the original article: http://www.ajph.org/cgi/content/abstract/AJPH...

"We analyzed data from tobacco industry documents describing menthol product development, results of laboratory testing of US menthol brands, market research reports, and the 2006 National Survey on Drug Use and Health."

The Harvard study didn't interview anyone.

But please don't let the facts get in the way of your rant...

Where would one "find" decades' worth of research? Does the product development and marketing actually match with what occurred?

A Harvard School of Public Health study has found decadesí worth of research by the industry on product development and marketing plans for menthol cigarettes.

There they go again with the youth word. Since the orginal study has to be paid for before one can look it - one has more questions than answers as usual. Having smoked Marlboro Menthols and Marlboro Milds, their plan didn't work on me. PM's menthols suck.

The researchers say Philip Morris developed Marlboro Milds in 2000 to attract younger smokers while the company increased the menthol content in Marlboro Menthols to keep older smokers.

You silly goose, of course they did not interview anyone. That way they would have found out who actually smokes menthols. They did not do that thought because that would have meant talking to the actual people somewhere along the "research" project instead of relying on grant money and directed research paid for by SmokeFree, RWJF, and others. People like you who pound their chests with pride after reading a newspaper report or a survey are the dumbest of all. You never question anything.

Let's turn it around a bit in the headlines. The headlines could then read Tobacco Companies Fund Study of Adolescent Smokers....because they did through the ALF. Let's make these studies say exactly who and what they are.

About those big crowds hanging around the Pepsi counter.......

Pfizer Corp. announced today that Viagra will soon
be available in liquid form, and will be marketed by Pepsi Cola as a power beverage suitable for use as a mixer. It will now be possible for a man to literally pour himself a stiff one. Obviously we can no longer call this a soft
drink, and it gives new meaning to the names of
'cocktails','highballs' and just a good
old-fashioned 'stiff drink'. Pepsi will market the new concoction by the name of: MOUNT & DO. Thought for the day: There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra today than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2040, there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them.
