This was stated in this article:

"A 12-year-old girl explained her decision not to join her school's volleyball team because although she enjoyed playing, she thought it would take away too much time from her faith, potentially subject her to peer pressure and steer her away from the Bible's teachings. She said her decision showed her classmates how important her religion is to her."

I am glad her religion is important to her, but that does NOT mean you have to give up playing volleyball! Another control factor!

But Hollie , its her decision, and she is free to make her own decision.
it just also may have an undesirable affect, because people may assume a christian is not allowed to play sport. so her decision can be either a negative or a positive . And because she made it for a frivolous thing and not for a command, then when she does take a stand for a more psitive command of jesus, it will have less force , because she will come across as someone who hates everything.

All genuine followers of Jesus knows from Bible study what Jesus said would keep you spiritually strong in these last days. Participating in school sports is an individual decision and should be based on what is more important to one person than another person that is all. No one is being forced to give up anything, we all know everything in this world is designed to take us away from God, not nearer to him.

That is all it is, a control factor.
Extra-curricular programs are only beneficial for ALL children.
All of JW kids know, we are all but forbidden by the WBTS from participating in any after school enriching activities.
Sad that this is still done, and the parents still stick their collective heads in the sand that JW teens turn to alcohol, sex and drugs instead.

Aren't all the JWs on this forum bragging that the JW cult does not go running to the media, that is why their non-existent charitable works are not known??

Proven liars, once again.

How many here believe it would have been 'up to her' had she chosen to play volley ball or any other sport? As Nomi might say...in all my long years as a Jehovah's Witness I have never known one JW child that played school sports. Not one.

If there was a door knockin marathon at schools then the GB would let them participate.

Isn't it funny, the only people who are truly happy and content, on this earth, are Jehovah's witnesses. All the rest of this world are so misled, confused, miserable and alienated from Jehovah God and his righteous organization. All you do on this forum is fight against Jehovah God's ways, you are swimming up stream.

What are you on crack??
I have never been around more miserable, nasty losers than at the Kingdom Hall.
Go do some actual volunteer work at a soup kitchen or shelter, if you want to meet some genuinely good people. They focus on the positive and what matters in life and not if a man is wearing a beard, or a woman prefers slacks.

It's an assembly. It was a play .. An illustration..
a pat myself on the back and brag about it event.. they will use any means to get their points acrossed.. maybe the kid did feel that way. but It's doubtful.. If you think peer pressure is bad.. hmm! it has nothing on parents and Elders and their manipulation to get kids to jump through hoops.. Problem is Kids grow -up.. have to get out out on their own. and then they realize that their childhood is gone.. Guess what.. those very kids. are the ones that wind up screwed up.. you see they have been little robots so long. they haven't a clue how to act.. They've been restricted from communicating with people that they now are rubbing elbows with in the work place.. And they have preprogramed ideas that everyone is (WORLDLY) and then they find that many are just humans .. doing their best to get along.. support their familys.. In other words.. they were lied to.. not allowed to make desisions for themselves.. AND NOW. their gonna... At that point .. it could go either way.. depends on their inner person... and how they deal with resentment.. Capeesh!

If you honestly believe this, you are definitely hanging around with the wrong people who are filling your head with nonsense.

Martha..I spent years as a witness.. and observed a good many things that some how seemed sureal to me.. And the biggest one ...was.. That the WTS. preprogram you with the thought the the witnesses are happy people.. Wrong.. Some of you have convinced yourselves that you are.. pasted on your smiles that seldom reach your eyes.. But rarely do any of you feel the freeness to really be enthused over anything with out the thought that you must be doing something wrong. Rarely do you really rejoice with out the WTS. prompting you.. IF they had their way. you'd never have time to do anything with your family and friends.. A slave from sun up to sun down. And so blind that you can't see though the lies they have repeated so many times that it's become your mantra. LOOK around you .. really LOOK..
as God say.. check it out .. and see if it's true..
The WTS. has enslaved it's followers. body and soul and sets prameters for what they can and can't do .. or say.. or see.. or hear.. and laid a guilt trip to keep them in line.. Happy.. I don't think so.

that is why what Christ taught is important, and to follow his way. He gave just two commandments, to love God and love your neighbor with whole soul mind and strength.

If we do we would not break Gods laws and we would not do things to our fellow humans that we would not want them to do to us, and we would be motivated by love, not law the law is perfect we are not but with love of God and Christ we can develop this agape love of principle for all our fellow man, and Christ showed the way, this is all we need, as everything else comes under these guiding principles.

Sports are designed to take you away from God??? That is such nonsense. What about the sports that the JW'S get together in some KH's to make up for keeping the children from mixing with their classmates?
