How about your parking lot robberies?? Anything being done about that??? Where are the parking lot video cameras to help thwart off robberies and theft from vehicles??? Been held up in the parking lot lately???

No, but I was approached a while back by two gentlemen, one carrying a screwdriver....and I'm pretty sure they didn't have car repairs in mind.

Raising my shirt to expose, and place my hand on the Glock 19 on my hip must have given them second thoughts about bringing a screwdriver to a gun fight, as they suddenly detoured away.

Another one of those unreported cases where the mere presence of an armed individual makes for one less victim.

Go thou and do likewise.

One shouldn't have to carry a Glock 9# in the parking lot at ETSU. I carry a 410/45 Bond arms derringer. (defender rounds). I figure 2 shots will do the trick.

Like about every department at ETSU campus security has become a joke littered with incompetence. andpolitical hires. Recently a city of Johnson City parks and rec, and city jail employee, was arrested for theft. He also worked part time as ETSU campus security. Why was he hired in the first place?(With so many graduates in criminal justice student available.) Somebody in admin told them to hire him I would wager. Why? He could be trusted to do the wrong thing. The ETSU postmaster recently intercepted drugs and cash intended for a scholarship basketball player. He was fired. I'm certain the rank and file got the message. What happens on campus stays on campus. Same as when the sudent died at the campus owned apartments years ago. Now when serious crimes occur on-campus outside agencies are required to investigate. There-in lies the disconnect. The major concern is the image of the school and not the students safety.

How about standing up against the tons of money that ETSU is wasting? What ridiculous projects they spend money on. What a waste to taxpayers. The construction oversight committees are a joke and scared senseless of anybody else. I guess they can't get a real job, so they work for ETSU. What a joke of a school.

ETSU is like most 'gun free' zones. Excellent place for criminals to practice their trade.

What they ought to do is require every incoming freshman to take a concealed weapons course and carry a weapon.(yes, State law would have to change to allow pistols at 18 ). You'd end up with the most crime free campus in America.

Pfffft, ETSU taking a stand on violence? Baloney. More than likely they are just promoting homosexual rights and declaring "hate crime" in the defense of them. ETSU is a blight, plain and simple. The majority of the students are rich kids with no real ambition. Whether they get a degree is of no importance.

Unfortunately, ETSU is like the rest of Institutionalized, government funded Academia, frought with a really rotten core values system. That comes from the little special interest groups and secret societies that run the show behind closed doors. Wherever that happens, corruption and rot are inevitable.

Evolution being one example of a totally debunked and discredited theory being pushed as scientific fact, despite the scientific evidence that had debunked it long ago. But that is just one of the many stupid theories that Academia has latched onto and refuses to let go of.

They are quite hide bound, and resistant to truth. They are always trying to revise history these days. Perhaps the latest example are the British archaeologist (probably the worst in the entire world for just making stuff up) who are now desperately trying to tell us that the Anglo-Saxon invasion of Britain never happened, that is was more of a Politically Correct immigration, rather than a bloody invasion (which all of the documentary sources of that era say it was). Some sort of leftist "Love in" I suppose.

I once saw a British archaeologist on a BBC program digging into an assumed 6th century burial site, where they found a Byzantine bucket, some Anglo Saxon spears and shield bosses, some Celtic graves, and so on. Well, using Occam s razor, we could easily deduce that the Anglo Saxons had captured some Celtic prisoners, and some artifacts during thier plundering, and they would up being included as grave goods in an Anglo Saxon burial from the time of the invasion. After all, why wouldnt a Byzantine bucket be included in the spoils of late Roman Britain, right?

No. The British just couldnt accept that, because it wouldnt match their pet theory that the Anglo Saxon invasion was peaceful. So, without any scientific basis at all, they just concluded the Byzantine bucket dated to a later time (based on nothing) and that the Celtic skeletons and artifacts (buried in the actual same grave as the Anglo Saxon warrior) simply must have been from thousands of years earlier, and that the Anglo Saxons had simply dug into a Celtic burial site by mistake.

And then they started in with the dating of the artifacts. Some were Iron, some were copper or bronze, and they were all jumbled together in one heap, same strata, same grave, intertwined around the same Anglo Saxon. Well, they began to separate the items according to Bronze Age opposed to Iron Age, and so on and so on. And they went on and on with the most ridiculous assertions and unfounded assumptions while ignoring the actual evidence. And they wound up with a totally ridiculous and unworkable theory as to what it all meant.

All just to protect thier pet theory that the Anglo Saxon "invasion" was peaceful.

And that is a good look at what is wrong with Western Academia . It is rotten from the top down. So, the problems with ETSU and nepotism and incompetence at the lower levels, only reflect the greater problems with all of the government run education system as a whole. And the higher one goes up the chain of command, the worse it gets.

And now that Tennessee has adopted the infamous "Common Core"garbage, then the primary education institutions will soon be as ridiculous as the secondary level ones.

The resolution is in the voting booth. It is up to the people to change the government from the top down. It will take a while, but it simply must be done. Otherwise you may hear your grand kids come home one day and tell you that the Pilgrims first Thanksgiving in 1621 never happened.

That would be more PC, you know.
