SUNY-Downstate at Bay Ridge Moves To Expand Its Services
Victory Memorial Hospital may have closed two years ago this month, but its heavily used, well-equipped and well-staffed replacement, SUNY Downstate at Bay Ridge's Urgent Care Center, provides swift medical services that should soon include outpatient ambulatory surgery services, awaiting official state approval.

After 2 years, the community can see that the closure of Victory Memorial Hospital has had a severe impact on healthcare services. Emergency rooms in nearby hospitals are always packed, with patients spending 24-48 hours waiting for a room. With that type of volume there is much room for medical errors. Hopefully in the near future SUNY Downstate will be able to reopen a full ER and satellite hospital,so that the Bay Ridge residents can be treated with the respect that all patients entering a hospital should have but no longer have due to the severe cuts imposed on healthcare.
