"The money for these speakers comes not from tuition or state aid but from an $85 fee charged to each student every semester."
The student is not charged - it's the parent who pays for it. As stated in your report many elected officials sat in the front rows for the speech to which President Justin Wax Jacobs said "the fact that the university was able to attract a former president to the campus made an impression. Perhaps, the event may have saved UAlbany and the university system from being cut millions in the upcoming budget." What a croc. The university, the tax payer and the elderly don't have the money to support a 2 hour speech for $200,000. The working parents money should have been spent on helping those who need an education and not sitting around listening to a speaker telling how we can help others from around the world. Not only did the university pass the $200,000 along it also showed that the students are doing what we the two working parents have been doing all along - work and spend beyond our means. Thanks Mr. Jacobs for passing along to the next generation of adults "spend, spend and spend". PS you failed..........
