This continues to be a very heavy lift with the GOP in control of the state Senate. Nevertheless, this effort seems much more organized than in 2009. And, Governor Cuomo is quite popular. With popular support continuing to rise for marriage equality (and, at an all time high in New York), it could happen.

I am always amazed at how conservative politicians confuse equality with "liberal". The marriage equality bill is at its core the ultimate conservative value.

This will easily pass the Assembly again (for the 4th time), but there are only 26 definite "yes" votes in the Senate, and 32 are needed. It is unlikely they can convince 6 Republican Senators to vote for this when 60% of registered Republicans in New York oppose marriage equality (think primary challenger 2012).

We'll know by the end of May.

Well, they will be working on three democrats as well (all except Diaz). However, I agree that it will be extremely difficult to pass in the state Senate. We'll see if the Log Cabin Repubs can help any.

Interesting, since Ontario, right next door, has gay marriage, and a great lake and a river with waterfalls is not enough to keep true liberty out of a region.

There are several bridges across...

i AGREE !

It's the so-called "liberals" who are so adamantly against anyone speaking out who does not follow their liberal orthodoxy. They worship ONLY at the alter of Karl Marx, Uncle Joe Stalin, and The Kennedys. It is THEY who are the fascists and ENEMIES OF LIBERTY.
