Claim: Let's put batteries on wind and solar farms
Renewable energy holds the promise of reducing carbon dioxide emissions. But there are times when solar and wind farms generate more electricity than is needed by consumers.

For land based wind, flywheel based power storage is probably the better option. Low maintenance and all you need is enough to last overnight.
But improved grids mean that you can 'level' the load everywhere since the wind is blowing SOMEWHERE.
And short term storage for wind generators might be tied into a 'modular grid' for short term 'peak power' demands.
The grid is not a simple or linear system and the treatment of the subject here is very simple minded and WRONG.
