Un-American Revolutions

There are 8 comments on the www.thedailybeast.com story from Mar 1, 2011, titled Un-American Revolutions. In it, www.thedailybeast.com reports that:

Americans love a revolution. Their own great nation having been founded by a revolutionary declaration and forged by a revolutionary war, they instinctively side with revolutionaries in other lands, no matter how different their circumstances, no matter how disastrous the outcomes. This chronic reluctance to learn from history could carry a very heavy price tag if the revolutionary wave sweeping across North Africa and the Middle East breaks with the same shattering impact as most revolutionary waves.

"Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson hailed the French Revolution.“The French have served an apprenticeship to Liberty in this country,” wrote the former,“and now… they have set up for themselves.” Jefferson even defended the Jacobins, architects of the bloody Reign of Terror.“The liberty of the whole earth was depending on the issue of the contest,” he wrote in 1793,“and was ever such a prize won with so little innocent blood?… Rather than [the revolution] should have failed, I would have seen half the earth desolated.”

In Ten Days That Shook the World, the journalist John Reed was equally enthusiastic about the Russian Revolution of 1917, a book for which Lenin himself (“great Lenin” to Reed) wrote an enthusiastic preface. Reed’s counterpart in China’s communist revolution was Edgar Snow, whose characterization of Mao—“He had the simplicity and naturalness of the Chinese peasant, with a lively sense of humor and a love of rustic laughter”—today freezes the blood."

ps Don't forget that Americans were happy because of revolution in Iran too which brought Ayatollahs to power. Now Americans are not so happy with them.

Two entirely different things. What happened in the American Revolution was not revolution at all but rather a colonial uprising... a war of independence from Britain.

Not a desire to radically change the way the colonies were governed internally. That is why middle and upper class colonials like Washington, Franklin and Jefferson not only supported but led it.

Actual revolutions are peasant revolts led by only the most brutal and ruthless and are followed by the eradication of those considered "class enemies". The French Revolution was a perfect example... as was the Chinese Revolution.

So giving in to the rabble in the street (which in Moslem nations is largely pro Al Quieda anyway)...

Peasant revolutions? So why were Lenin, Bronstein, Kollontai and most of the leading commies from rich families than, dumb serb turd?

Or was Lenins father a landless peasant from Chukotka. haahhahah

Lenin should have killed himself and most of his inner circle according to his own teachings since he too would be classified as a "class enemy".

Stalin could have never risen up if not for these educated wealthy bolsheviks from nobel classes who took power in 1917.

But I supose they though you at Yugoslavian serb turd school that Lenin was a hard working proletariat man just like every dumb yugoslav and soviet citizen.
