Dropout Rate of Mexican illegal alien Students Sky High in New York.

28 Nov 2011

Why is the dropout rate of Mexican illegal aliens in high school so high in New York City? The New York Times reports that an estimated 41 percent of Mexican illegal aliens between the ages of 16 and 19 are high school dropouts, but the paper doesn't do a great job of analyzing the cause of this phenomenon. While the Times notes that the dropout rate is a major concern given that Mexicans are the fastest-growing illegal group in New York City and that the Mexican dropout rate is much lower elsewhere, the paper didn't include the experiences of Mexican illegal alien students who are actually excelling in school or what other cities and states are doing differently.

Why can't we just deport them. Waste of an already damaged education system.
