Dear Sirs: I think its silly to "worry about improper-use"! It is a GIVEN, that such WILL happen, just as other things are mis-used. The successful research of Parkinson's is MORE important than worrying about other abuse. For one thing, finding a cure for Parkingson's would BENEFIT GREATLY those who DO ever abuse a drug, because Parkingson's is often a short...or long-term RESULT of drug abuse. Hopefully, there'll be enough time between a drug's abuse and the cure to Parkinson's disease. A drug-taker would merely take something else, so this is an arguement for legalizing drugs. Heroin has fewer side-effects, I'm told, than its usual replacement while in a treatment program, Methadone, plus, workers on Heroin MAY be able to support themselves with a job.

Mr. Nichols, with all due respect, get over yourself. The dark side of drugs, seriously. May I ask you since 1982 how many lab animals were used? What would you say, hundreds, maybe thousands for 2 possibly 3 new drugs. I am not a PETA radical, but I do wonder what was done with all those research animals you used. Had you ever stopped to consider the role, the true role of animal research in our quest for a possible cure-because we are truly not as serious about finding cures as we are continuing to receive the grant/research money to continue our noble missions. Study the "human" brain for gods sake. Have you ever wondered about the methods you have used all these years? I have. Thanks. Peace
