The title should be "How East Timor became Timor Leste: A British/Australian Colony".

That's more accurate unfortunately.

The best title should be "How Javanese Goons loose their grip on their stolen land - Timur Leste".

Forestgump,
I can only see darker tomorrow for ET. Their oil only bring misery for the people. Their political situation also doesn't look encouraging to me.

Like anything, the transition and growing period dis never easy.
Given trust and support, ET wil grow.
Indonesia and Malaysia both had major problems while growing up - we still do but we have maturity on our side.

Forest,
Sorry, I only talk about reality here. Britain/Australia will never let them grow out of them. They will suck ET's natural resources like a leech. Nothing for the people. Evidence: Oil revenue ? None. Britain took most of it.

ET has to blame itself for quickly and absolutely immersing itself with the whites controlled countries as theyre probably suspicious of its south eastern neighbours.
These white controlled countries are just replicating what the old while missionaries do when they landed in Africa and South America - bible in the right hand and a gun and a whip in their left hand hidden behind them!!!!
U cant force ET to remind itself that theyre asians just like us.
The aussies were quick to volunteer and led a stabilising force into ET as thyre worried of hundreds of thousands of timorese will make way for Northern Australia!!!

Forest,
The 1999 referendum was a sham created by Britain and United States to force ET out from Indonesia. They can falsified the voting result but they can't hide the fact that half of ET was empty because all of its population went to Indonesia. Many Timorese still regard themselves as Indonesians rather than Australians or Portuguese. If Indonesians let ET go that means we abandone them coldheartedly. How can we face God after we die ? Sooner or later, the truth will reveal itself eventhough the Brits hate it.

I will never participate in Malaysia's bashing. Useless propaganda. I advocate peace and unity for both, eventhough the Brits and the US hate it.

Sooner or later, western military small bases will be built after which it will become bigger and the lame excuse is that it is to monitor and counter China's possible expansion in South China Sea. Its a classic military strategy while forcing ET to rely on their protection - their focus is on China and not weakened Indonesia as the Indonesian military threat has gone down after the fall of Suharto.

Forest,
I smell Barack's rotten egg here. He's coming to town soon. He'll make demand to Indonesia to secure their power here.
After China's threat is gone. He can start thinking of how to disintegrate Indonesia or Malaysia again.

Let's not get drag into their sinister plan.
