Freedom of homosexual expression

There are 6 comments on the www.dailyprincetonian.com story from May 3, 2010, titled Freedom of homosexual expression. In it, www.dailyprincetonian.com reports that:

Coming to Princeton as a brand new, bright-eyed freshman is, let’s admit, a terrifying prospect all on its own. While we’re being honest, I should confess: Arriving as an openly homosexual male has brought its own set of challenges. Battling through the suffering that accompanies hiding an identity for years, then rejoicing through the triumph of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel when the truth demands to be liberated — these experiences taken in their entirety represent a coming out story. But that was before Princeton. Since arriving — and approaching the end of my first year — I have learned that the story is far from over and, for better or for worse, requires rethinking.

Coming out, then or now, is not an event, it is a process... a lifelong one. And until society completely gets over it's deeply ingrained bigotry toward LGBT people (which I don't believe will EVER happen) the need to first hide, then come out, then settle into various degrees of situational self-repression, is a cruel torture foisted upon us by a heteronormative culture.

I'm SO sick of hearing the word "tolerance." Do we "tolerate" left-handed people? Do we "tolerate" black, hispanic, and Asian people? Anyone who feels that gay people are desirous or in need of "tolerance" is just another bigot. We are human beings too, and no matter how many heterosexual marriages and divorces you have, no matter how many church services you attend, it does not make you an better than any LGBT person. Not one bit!

I don't need anyone's "tolerance." What I need is for control freak religious whackjobs to mind their own damn business and stop trying to tell me that I'm sinful, peverted, that I have an anti-society agenda, or that who I love is anybody's business but my own. I don't have an agenda, I have a life, and I will damn well live it on my own terms and nobody else's. Anyone who thinks they're going to stand in the way of my doing that will get knocked on their bigoted ass faster than you can say "get over it!"

I think I love you!

LOL

On a more serious note, I do love your words. You just said what I have been thinking for years. Thank you for that, for voicing what I have been thinking and feeling for so long.

Why are you even commenting on a gay topic website? Is there something internal that you are struggling with that causes profanity that is not necessary????

"The feminazis are chickifying as much of our culture as they can.... Would Princeton create a position to teach gays not to act gay? Imagine Princeton University announces a gay male engagement manager to combat aggressive gay behavior. There would be hell to pay." ---Rush Limbaugh, 27 July 2017
