It will probably mean game over for modern civilization. To heck with the atmosphere. I care about MY life and prospects. And those of my children.
With 3C to 6C of warming over the next 90 years, we will not be able to adapt or bear the costs and war will break out over the remaining resources. Estimates are optomistically calling for one billion survivors (which means 7 million casualties) http://tinyurl.com/yaczh53
That is an 'apocalypse' scenario if we do nothing. One can even tie it to the bible which said it will be 'fire' next time. Regardless if you believe in the bible, or the prophecies, whodathunk we'd do it to ourselves?
