I love this "ban" mentality. I find it very humorous that some humans think they have some kind of control over other humans so that they can prevent them from carrying inanimate objects. Funny indeed.

I really think we should introduce guns in grade schools to end predictory bullying.

The criminals in the area (and there are many) will be glad to know that the law-abiding students of ODU have been disarmed making their job MUCH easier. Oy-vay

"An ODU student was fatally shot in a rental house near the campus in June and there have been a series of robberies in neighborhoods adjoining the campus"

So do they think if this policy was in place these incidents would have not happened? The bad guy would walk up see the no gun sign and say "Shucks gotta go commit crimes somewhere else"? Criminals don't play by the rules. So why make rules that make them safer because they know that no one has a weapon to defend themselves. Mass shootings occur in areas where guns are not allowed because criminals know people will be easier targets there. Why do you think no one has tried to shoot up a police department or NRA meeting? Because they know they wouldn't make it past the front door.

The policy wouldn't have affected the rental house or any other place not on campus. Furthermore 'the ruling said weapons are allowed "on the open grounds of GMU and in other places on campus not enumerated in the regulation' where George Mason banned guns. It only applies in buildings on campus and places where people congregate like sporting events.

Why don't you think while you read? I wouldn't want someone as careless as you with a gun firing back at another shooter in a classroom. You might kill more than the shooter.

ODU as a private entity has the right to ban weapons in it's building. As long as they are a private entity that receives no public monies that is. If they accept public money for anything then they are no longer a private entity and should not be allowed to prevent private citizens, from who the receive money, the right to protect themselves. I also beleive that anyone who supports 2nd Amendment rights should stay away from ODU. That way if ODU is ever targeted it would be only the anti-gunners that got hurt.

Then I stand corrected. Thank you. As a public state university which receives tax dollars, then they should not be allowed to ban guns on their campus. The people who pay the bills have a right to demand as much.

You guys can't read. They aren't banning guns on campus, only where people congregate.

The White House and U.S. Capitol Building are 'public' buildings. Why don't you go whine outside their entrances that you can't carry your big gun in there!

I think ODU needs to do-it-yourself "Gun Free Zone" kit.

I've been inside the White House (in Lincoln's bedroom too). Does the govt still allow visiting the White House ? I heard Bush (the butcher) stopped the tours.

And YES, people should be allowed inside the White House armed with weapons or not. The SecretService are inside everyday, armed with guns. It's obviously no big deal.

Did you even read the article? You're hero, the cooch, said as much

"Cuccinelli said the state Supreme Court, which upheld George Mason's regulation, found it "is tailored, restricting weapons only in those places where people congregate and are most vulnerable -- inside campus buildings and at campus events." But the ruling said weapons are allowed "on the open grounds of GMU and in other places on campus not enumerated in the regulation."

The secret service is in the white house to protect the president from extremists like you.

Are they most vulnerable to Cho or Loughner, or to the peaceful law-abiding gun owners ?

If guns are banned 'inside' then people can't carry them on the campus except in their cars. We need our guns while walking to the 'inside' from the car and from the 'inside' to the car. Duh. Comprende ?

Not true. They are in there making the president more vulnerable because of antigun extremists like you. An armed society is a safe society. When a battalion of infantry are needed to guard the president, then something is fundamentally wrong. In this case, it is the president supports unConstitutional policies such as gun control.

2nd amendment gun nuts. I own my fair share of firearms, more than fair share. Gots one for every occasion. But the right to carry has got not one iota of relevance to the 2nd amendment. Unfortunately gun nuts are clueless about the real intentions our forefathers had in writing and including it in the bill of rights. If the dummies did they would understand that we have more to fear from our own government than we do some street punk. But thats why the 2nd is there and the ignoramuses don't get.

If not for "to carry", what exactly does "bear" mean in the 2nd-A? I am pretty sure that it says that the government shall NOT infringe on our right to keep (own) and bear (carry) arms (firearms and other weapons).

Wasn't this amendment written back when it was also a god-given a right to own slaves?
