I is a lot less trouble just for NC courthouses to sell $35 marriage licenses to gay couples; than to wear holes in the constitution adding stuff and erasing stuff every time the wind blows

So even the anti-gays are finally publicly admitting that marriage equality will be a reality in the near future. Of course that won't stop them from one last shot at discriminating against us.

They're like the plantation owners running out to buy more slaves before it becomes illegal.

Knowing that it will most likely be reversed in the future, what's the point? All it is doing is etching their shame into their state constitution. Mr. Tillis' claim to fame in the history books will be, "the man who wrote discrimination into the North Carolina state constitution (since overturned)". Some epitaph! Enjoy your moment of perverse glory, Mr. Tillis...

They can't help themselves. They'd still be voting for segregation if they could.

Tea Bagging politicians know how to pander to anti rational, moronic, tablibangelical voters. After all, that's their base.

I remember seeing one R. Congressman on TV who laughingly claimed he didn't know and had no way of knowing whether the earth is under 10000 years old - as his crazy constituents believe - or not.

Everyone realizes that now that the gay marriage genie is out of the bottle, he's never going back in. The right's sole goal now is to drag out the discrimination as long as they can. It is the only way they have now of punishing gays. At least legally. Illegally they can still bully, bash and murder us.

We still need to work our tails off in the upcoming election ... or we could experience setbacks of really scary proportions.

The Presidential and Congressional election has NEVER been so important for us.

Agreed.

Justice Ginsburg- age 79
Justice Scalia- age 76
Justice Kennedy- age 75
Justice Breyer- age 73

Any of these 4 could drop dead tomorrow. Need I say more?

You could offer up a prayer for the keepers amongst them.

I gather it is not your style to pray for Scaliar's precipitous keeling over.

I couldn't help myself and sent the following email to Mr. Tillis:

I read with some interest an Associated Press mention about your support of an amendment to the North Carolina Constitution banning marriage equality in your state, and your anticipation that this amendment will pass. Of even more interest was your follow-on remark that you expect it to be reversed "within a generation."

Knowing that it will most likely be reversed in the future, what's the point? I wonder what your grandchildren will have to say about you once your discriminatory policy has been reversed? "Oh, yeah, grandpa, he's the one who helped etch discrimination into our state's Constitution. We don't like to talk about him much...".

Some legacy! It'll make a wonderful epitaph. But you go ahead and enjoy your moment of glory, Mr. Tillis... a glory that, by your own admission, will be short-lived.

I send Scalia coupons for pizza & cheeseburgers at least once a month! I encourage everyone else to do the same. He's gotta have a stroke or heart attack sooner or later!!
