"... the US military has expressed concern about losing a natural defence around the country's northern border for part of the year."

Some Alaskan politician might be interested in this information if she weren't so committed to climate change denial. Then again, less ice means more tropical coastline available for resort development... unless it gets fouled by oil spills.
