Karen Bowling named MSU Health Sciences Dean

Feb. 10--BECKLEY -- Karen Bowling, well known for her work as president and CEO of Raleigh General Hospital, has been selected as dean of Mountain State University's School of Health Sciences.

I understand that she did resign. She like any of us, are always looking to better ourselves. If she is happier at MSU then let her be.

I've also noticed that CEO's of hospitals do not usually stay long. Maybe 5-7 years then they're gone. I'd say it's a tough field to be in.

She was very much liked at RGH. Most employees hated to see her go. I can already tell it's not going to be a good place to work anymore! Changes for the not so good already taking place.

I worked under karen for a short while on 4south.She was always fair and had everyones best interest at heart.Never known her to actually perform any nurses duties-cant do teach isnt that the sayimng.Some of my instructors while attending 3 different programs couldnt apply a bandaid but sure could teach.

I don't know what rgh u worked at, must not have been the same one as me! Every person I worked with disliked her, doctors included!!!! She was a hateful , smart mouth, 2 faced woman who ran the good doctors away with her attitude! I'm glad she's gone, maybe rgh can improve now.

Karen will fit in there very well. MSU is on of the most corrupt businesses in WV. Roslyn Artis, Cindy Alexander, William White, Ruth Wylie and the entire bunch should be fired...they are raping this school.

Where did all the doctors go under her direction? Why did they go?
In high level jobs it is often better for the company and the CEO to depart quietly. I'd say she was not given a choice but to resign.
What about the MRSA problem at RGH?
What about the 12 to 17 hour ER visits?
These are real issues.

I would say that she was told to resign. This happens often at that level of a business. She certainly didn't better herself going to work at MSU.
