With the news this week that about half of Mountain State University employees will be without jobs come September, it's impossible not to think of Charles H. Polk, the man credited with the massive expansion that enabled so many to come to work for the institution.

Be sure to read the full article in The Spirit of Jefferson County. It's priceless. When is the crane going to come remove Polk's statue? Or has it done so already?

My sources still at MSU reliably inform me that the statue was gone from the rotunda of the Robert C Byrd Learning Resource Center by Monday, the 23rd of July, 2012.
