The real question here is "do airlines create crooks ... or just attract them" ?

Actually, the more I think about it, it's the board of directors fault. So, I'm thinking, let's classify the BOD as safety sensitive positions ....... and drug test them!!

It's a good ol' boys club. They all serve on each others boards and vote each other raises. Then they are in the clear by saying " I didn't do it, the board of directors decided it"

So right if most BOD's were family they would be guilty of incest. Big salaries for "good 'ol boys" club members with fancy degrees and a poor performance record of airline management, if ANY, in airline or otherwise, except in bankruptcy. Big salaries and bonues for poor to no performance. I do not see ANYONE reforming this set precedence.

Then you have the Gordon Bethune and Herb Kelleher types who do it for the challenge and love of the industry with some compensation thrown in, with reason or based on performance. Their kind is an endangered. I have met more airline personel with a "hands-on-knowledge" that would benefit their companies but few BOD's that would EVER back true line employees as Executive management or ANY other type of management, then there are the front lines who go to management positions to sit pretty, literally and NOTHING else.

Sounds like something for the people who own the airline to worry about. I am sure if wealth envy crowd had their way the airline would be run by a $10 an hour employee.

I wonder why the stock holders don't demand that, perhaps they don't want to loose their ass.

The airlines ARE run by $10 an hour employees. It's those contract ramp guys that make sure your bag is there when you arrive on time at your destination. It's the $10 contract agent that caters to you when you want that upgrade. They leave the middle seat open for you so you can get some extra room. The pilot that took a huge paycut, but makes sure your flight is safe. The mechanic who lost his pension but still gives you a safe plane. The flight attendant who has had to give up alot that makes sure your petty whining needs are cared for in flight. She hopes she never has to do the job she's really trained for and save your arse. All these people and more watch as upper management takes home tons of money they don't have for us. In case you haven't noticed, stock holders everywhere have taken in the shorts in the last 2 years.
