5 stars ***** for Gov. Tim Pawlenty. It's about time some one in government is using their brains. My daughter finished her last semester online at UMD, she loved it and graduated. They might have to fine tune the testing process though. She had to drive to UMD to take the tests for the classes, which were usually held on Saturdays. Not a real problem if you live within a few hundred miles of the college.
Just think about all the tax money we would save for less brick and mortar, not building expensive high schools and colleges. More good teaches and less administration. More commitment from the students and less money spent on baby sitting.
I like the idea. It works.

There is a place for on-line classes, but they should not replace regular classes. Students should still demonstrate that they can work with others, and that doesn't come through with on=line classes.
The majority of the classes should be regular; on=line should only supplement.

I agree with you 100%. Students need the inter action. I enjoyed my college years. Maybe a little to much. I also feel that some students are intimidated by the classroom system and would be more confident participating and expressing themselves in their own environment. I think there is less pressure but more time for creativity online. Online could possibly benefit the last 2 years of high school and last 2 years of college.

It's a start.
