I really don't know..but I think the time has passed to be able to put a name on the ballot...My kids have gone to Capac for many years, and I do not remember there ever being a woman on the ballot

Ramona Brown was on the board, and Deb Lewis, in the past, but that was several few years ago. A couple women in the last couple years have ran, but lost. I don't think there are any set qualifications, like education or experience, but just be a tax payer of Capac schools and over 18. But I could be wrong on that. And it probably is too late by now, call the admin office and inquire.

Mr. Lentz was on the school board for many years, due to parents not very happy with his performance on the board, and the way the teacher's contract renewal was handled he was voted off the board not long ago, and is now trying to win his seat back. Mr. Antilla has stayed actively involved with the school district, heading up and planning, and helping to run the district's "Goal planning" meetings. They are trying to come up with a new vision and mission statement for our district. I applaud Mr. Antilla for sticking with the distrtict and helping out, even when not on the board. Why when looking forward for our district would Capac voters want to vote in someone that couldn't do much while he was in office? On a side not, I read on here that Mr. Jennex is actively seeking employment elsewhere, Sure wondering why he is trying so very hard to leave our district. If you ask my opinion, Mr. Drake would make an Excellent Superintendent, he has a lot of fresh, new ideas that our school district greatly needs!

I do know Mr. Lentz and he has my support. Capac Parent, I must respectfully disagree with you. Mike has done a great deal for the students. He's passionate about getting the best education for our kids. I talked to him about this and he said keeping as much money in the classrooms as possible is one of his top priorities. It's clear to me that budget is the biggest issue that school boards throughout Michigan will need to deal with. Mike Lentz's professional background is in finance. When he was on the board they always built up a savings. Just look at the fund balance now -- and with the Governor threatening takeover or consolidation of schools who aren't managing their money, we absolutely need Mike Lentz.

There have been women on the board at least for decades since I was a Capac student. Maybe not enough, but they have been there. I encourage anyone interested in dedicating the time and expertise to managing our district to run. There are no special qualifications beyond being a resident of the district (well, a passion for education and kids and business skills might help). : ) A candidate has to get a petition, get signatures and file with the county clerk by the deadline.

Mike Lentz (his first name is Walter) has two daughters who graduated from CHS a few years ago. His wife is a retired Capac teacher. I think it says something that he wants a strong school even after his kids are grown.

Lentz was just on school board to vote for pay raises for his wife when she was a teacher.

I am sad as well, I know that the polls spoke what the voters voted for, but I think that a huge mistake has been made..

All we can do now is hope that things do not get worse or go down hill at a faster rate of speed.

I think that Capac is in for a real eye opener, sad to say but true..
