Remember when you vote, you didn't ask if
your choice had all the answers!!
Maybe you should have ask a few? You didn't!
If your expecting "perfect", maybe you should
have thought before you voted last time.

I'm up for a change.

Yep.

The 2006 midterm Pelosi/Reid democrat-controlled House and Senate were the death knell.

Remember when the deficit was only $161 billion in FY2007, and after the democrats took control of congress after the 2006 midterms, Pelosi and Reid vetoed Bush's budgets and spent us into oblivion?(Pelosi, Reid and Obama have since increased that deficit TENFOLD). Not to mention that when Bush refused to sign Pelosi's reworked budget in 2008, she gave him the proverbial finger and had Obama sign it. And that Obama doubled down on stupid and spent us into near-bankruptcy?

And remember that GOP policy whereby George Bush and the GOP-controlled congress brought us back from the dot-com bust and 9/11, created the DHS, and rebuilt our intel community that Clinton decimated? Under Bush and the GOP we had all-time record-high employment, all-time record-high 52 consecutive months of job growth, 6.8 million new jobs, the DOW near 14,000, the deficit under $162 billion, record GDP growth, and unemployment at a nominal 4.2 - 4.5%.

GDP growth was a record-high 30% and government revenues were at an all-time high of 56% from 2003 - 2007. ALL-TIME RECORDS.

What happened after the Pelosi/Reid democrat cabal took control of the House AND Senate after the 2006 midterms?

Let's see....

Since the democrats won the 2006 midterms, the Pelosi/Reid controlled 110th congress have looted the treasury for $5.7 trillion and increased the deficit by $1.26 trillion, or 776%.(The republican congress had reduced the deficit from a high of $412 billion in FY 2004 to $319b in FY 2005, to $248b in FY 2006, and ultimately to $161b in FY 2007).

Those same democrats also added $5+ trillion (+45.3%) to the national debt ($3.8 trillion under Obama), and increased the debt limit by $5.33 trillion (+59.4%).

And who could forget that those same democrats turned the projected $800 billion SURPLUS over the ten-year period FY 2008-2017 into a $9.7 trillion DEFICIT -- a $10.5 trillion worsening of the budget outlook.

In addition to record debt and record deficits, as a bonus, they've delivered record poverty, record welfare, record food stamp enrollment, record home foreclosures, record-low housing values, record-low business startups, record low private-sector pay, record-high government pay, record-high underemployment, record-high inflation, record-high economic stagnation, record-high bank closures, and doubled unemployment. Along with backroom deals, bribes, government takeovers of our economy, a tsunami of ruinous new taxes and regulations, billions in payoffs to state unions and union pensions, the ruination our healthcare system, making a mockery of congress, and utterly crippled business, confidence, and prosperity in America.

Obama has adopted dozens of right wing initiatives, such as Romneycare, cap and trade, TARP, immigration drones, etc, but when he does, the Fascist Right think tanks like "Heritage" "Cato" "Mackinac" "ALEC" "Americans for Prosperity" "Club for Growth" "American Crossroads", The Chamber of Commerce, etc., all back away from THEIR OWN INITIATIVES.

Which only leaves one conclusion- they hate Obama because he's black.

Politicians get the best of everything - healthcare, retirement, vacations...and it's all paid for courtesy of YOU and ME. If they so much as get a gas pain, they are rushed off to Bethesday Naval Hospital where the best doctors in the country will attend to them day and night until they finally fart. Their wives and children NEVER have to worry about an illness or accident and how to pay for it.

They'd love to dump Social Security because THEY don't need it. THEIR retirement is FOREVER and paid for by the rest of us. When they die, that retirement rolls over to their spouse for the rest of his/her life.

Vacations. Whose paying this month off? For ALL of them. They're all out having the time of their lives while the rest of us are figuring out how to buy school clothes and food for lunch boxes.

Politicians can vote themselves raises. Raise your hand if you can go to work and vote yourself a raise today.

Who the HELL do these people think they are? What gives them the right to tell US what we can and cannot have while giving the best of everything to themselves?

It is time to end the plutocracy.

If you read, you would know that those countries have their own problems with immigrants.

Or is your statement ("minority welfare") just code words for your racial bias?

If you read, you would know that

"According to the statistics, whites form the largest racial group on welfare; half of all welfare recipients leave in the first two years; and teenagers form less than 8 percent of all welfare mothers."

"Myth: People on welfare are usually black, teenage mothers who stay on ten years at a time.

As one who cares very much about our country, I've given a great deal of thought to what might change things, as I agree with you that we're on a downhill slide.

I think it would matter if, like other civilized nations, we limited campaigning to a month or six weeks, instead of having our representatives campaigning every single day of their terms.

I read somewhere that a congressman needs to bring in about $30,000/day in donations, every day, holidays and weekends included, in order to have the money for his/her next campaign.

The reason they do have to do that is that a great many people (consultants, experts, whatever) make A LOT OF MONEY FROM OUR FLAWED SYSTEM.

The other thing that could make a difference would be for our representatives to be seated either alphabetically or by seniority, instead of by party.

When you sit beside a person, most likely you will be civil to that person. You'll probably talk about your family, or sports,or the weather. You will be much less likely to call that person horrid names or to attribute bad things to that person.

Those two changes would be a start toward some reason, but they won't happen because too many people make too much money and have accumulated too much power that they'll never give up.

So I'm discouraged about the possibility of anything getting better. It's against my basic nature to think that, as I've always been optimistic and enthusiastic. But now I worry about our future.

No, but the rest of us are forced to pick up the tab for those who can't afford healthcare. Maybe YOU are one of those people who run to the emergency room if you stub your toe and then tell them you have no money to pay the bill. If you have insurance, as I do, why would you worry about making those who don't be responsible for themselves? Could it be you want to see ALL insurance paid for through big insurance companies that cost everyone a fortune and deny you benefits when you need them?

Been through that just this month. I pay well for my Aetna insurance. My doctor recently ordered a nuclear heart scan for me. Aetna refused to cover it. Who the HELL are they to decide MY health for ME???? Talk about DEATH panels. If I have a heart attack because this test was denied to me do I get the sue the sh*t out of Aetna?

Sit there and cry me a river over "obamacare". If you think these insurance companies raking in billions of dollars of YOUR money every year are doing you, or anyone else, any favors then you need to have your head examined....but your insurance company probably won't cover it.

You have nailed down THE problem with our government. It's called money. Doesn't matter if it's for campaigning or anything else. When you put people in a position to have large amounts of power AND money, you've created a deadly combination. There are VERY few people who can remain level-headed and maintain common sense and not become so self-focused that they lose sight of why they started the journey in the first place.

There is certainly no reason to feel bad about your lack of optimism. Both optimism and pessimism are alter realities. They are what you want things to be or what you believe things to be, but they aren't necessarily what things truly ARE.

What you're experiencing right now is gut instinct. You know something is very wrong, just like millions of other Americans know it. We know it's going to be changed by a simple election.

My prediction is such - there WILL be civil unrest in this country by the 2012 election, if not sooner. I predict there will be violence. IF (and this is a big if) the people do not get control of the government as was intended by our forefathers, I can even see secession and war in our future. That's not pessimism, that's looking at the realities of where we are and where we could very well be in the very near future. Our nation has come unglued and it's falling apart. It was falling apart for years and years and no one stopped it. It is, unfortunately, the falling of an empire.

We want change, but I think we're going to get changes most of us have never stopped to think about. We've become a nation so fragmented and fractured we're beyond repair now. We've become so angry and hateful and self-serving that I don't believe there is anything that can draw us back together. The fractures have been building for so long that even 9/11 didn't heal us for long.

The anger is by no means subsiding. It's building by the minute and if a revolt doesn't happen before November 2012, I believe that will be what sets off the powder keg.
