If Weiner's constituents are willing to overlook his piccadillos, then, of course, he should not resign. It is not, however, such a simple matter. He is well-known beyond New York because of his sometimes grating policy statements in appearances on all of the cable news stations. There was even an editorial cartoon in our local newspaper, with the obvious word play on his name.

Unfortunately for the Congressman, there is a kernel of truth in Marcus Antonius's funeral oration in "Julius Caesar." He begins with "The evil men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones." What, in the most favorable light, can be viewed as Weiner's poor judgement, will long be remembered, reinforced by the misfortune of the supporting role played by his name.

Since a number of Democrats are calling for his resignation, fearing the implied association of his actions with their party's values or the characters of Democratic candidates in general, I don't see Weiiner playing a major role as a spokesman or representative of Democrats in either the House or the Senate. In other words, en effort will be made to marginalize him, to keep him under wraps, to prevent him from seeking or obtaining media coverage in matters of national importance.

In representing his district, things will go on as usual, but he will have lost prestige, status and effectiveness in the broader governmental scheme of things. Choosing to remain in office under these circumstances is a matter of personal choice and it appears that his constituents are largely supporting him. Unfortunately for the Congressman, his actions have forever defined him in an unflattering light, something that will dog him for the rest of his career in politics. As we all know, what is out there on the 'net, has eternal life.

He is using up all of the Democrats Media to protect his online image. They will get tired of WEENEE coming up everytime they have to be out there with a message. What about the WEENEE?? That question is going to be around until 2012.

ANCHORAGE - A federal judge gave businessman Josef Boehm the maximum sentence of more than 11 years for his role in a drug and sex ring that operated out of his home.

Boehm, who is the president of the Alaska Industrial Hardware chain, was sentenced Tuesday after a nine-day sentencing hearing in U.S. District Court in Anchorage.

Judge John Sedwick sentenced Boehm to 135 months. In giving Boehm the maximum, the judge found that Boehm organized the sex and drug ring, and was its ring leader.

Boehm, 61, pleaded guilty earlier this year to distributing crack cocaine to people younger than 21 and to conspiring to commit child sex trafficking.

Prosecutor Frank Russo told KTUU-TV that justice was served in the case. Boehm lawyer Rex Butler, however, wanted his client to get house arrest. He said he will appeal.

According to prosecutors, more than a dozen teenagers between the ages of 13 and 19 were doing drugs and having sex at Boehm's home in Anchorage over a two-year period.

Butler argued unsuccessfully that Boehm was not only a victim of his own addiction but also was preyed upon by other crack addicts who took advantage of him because he had money.

Boehm has agreed to pay $1.2 million to his child victims for rehabilitation, counseling and education.

You must be kidding.

What about David Vitter? Just some more GOP hypocrisy ... Eric Cantor Calls on Weiner to Resign, But Gave Sanford and Ensign a pass..and they did a lot more than just send photos.
Consider the long list of republican "moral leaders" from C-Street.

The democrats have had some indiscretions too..but anyone who can't see that the republicans FAR AND AWAY hold the bar for marriage and sex scandals, is blind or just plain stupid.

I don't know why Weiner doesn't just switch parties.

The republicans would defend him to the hilt.

He has NOT broken any law(s)
...Because they are just as lawless, lewd, perverted, nasty and icky as weiner themselves. Birds of feather flock together. Weiner and his voters problem is that they flock with online perverts and online child molesters. Weiner is no different than a public flasher, and should be charged with the crime of indecent exposure. Shame on him and any one who would elect him.

The sad truth is that people who have done what Weiner did and would re-elect him were obviously raised more by "Jerry Springer" than real parents.

This just adds to my long list of why I've abandoned the democrat party!

The headline should have said, weiner shows pole online may survive misbehavior. I suspect there will be some really hilarious bumper stickers coming out before the elections next year. They'll say something like, "anthony's weiner, the new face of the democrat party and feature the snap shot of weiner's scrotum."

This just goes to show what type of LOONEYS/PERVERTS live in his district. It is indicative of the type of slime who inhabit New York. Honestly, I am very surprised that Weiner even has a weiner.

Sad but true.

I wish they'd get out of the way. It seems the only thing they've introduced is anti-choice legislation.

How about a jobs bill??

I thought they would have re-introduced some legislation to enhance job creation..and called it their own. But they haven't even done that.

It's their decision. The rest of us have opinions that don't matter. End of story.
leaving weiner in the office of a U.S. Representative is setting a very bad and dangerous precedent...

It will come back and bite both parties in the azz.....

Yes, the witch hunt is out in strong pursuit headed by the sleaziest of sleaze Breitbart whose comment "I can't foresee a circumstance in which i would release that (photo). I don't think I want to put his family through that type of thing" is the biggest pile of c**p ever coming out of this awful man's mouth.

Weiner was wrong, Breitbart was beyond wrong and beyond evil.

I did not know about Vitter diaper-clothed and visiting prostitutes so I guess Weiner's "misbehavior" has brought to light the hypocrisy of those throwing stones at Weiner and wanting him to resign.

Fascinating to watch the hypocrisy - with "biting both parties in the azz" (your words).

The precedent was set quite a while ago, by representatives who did much worse than Anthony Wiener.
