Who is in charge of enrollment at LMU? When I was there they fired the VP over student affairs and admissions. Never hired one I hear. What do they expect? Are they idiots there or what?

So sad, even security has cut back. Not where cuts should be.

The truth is their graduate program was a means to higher pay for Georgia teachers. Georgia determined their masters program teachers were no better than anyone else's B.S. degree teachers. Simply put, Georgia is refusing to pay Mercedes prices for the cheapest model Chevrolet. This, my friends is the tip of the iceberg. It is nothing more or less than L.M.U. has practiced for years. They are in Knoxville now trying to force the American Bar Association to accredit a school the A.B.A. considers to be graduating educationally unqualified students of law.

Correction my friends...LMU has fired 30+ Education Faculty, a Librarian, Nursing Faculty, Humanities Faculty, and have chosen to leave other positions unfilled, despite their desparately being needed to teach classes. It is common knowledge the VP of Administrative Affairs, who started as a secretary, is who is now running the show, and decides who stays and who does not.

Their Provost, who spends his time doing SACS Accreditation visits (being paid for by LMU student tuition monies) has NEVER taught a class a DAY in his life!

These dismissals are also due, in part, to a 20% decrease in enrollment across the board, an unaccredited law school (mentioned previously) with few enrollees, an 'Osteopathic' Vet School ($20 Million borrowed from the FDA), and three new dorms being built that are three years overdue.

Also, LMU's funding comes from student tuition, Faculty and Alumni donations, and whatever monies are raised from miscellaneous sources. LMU has NO Endowment which means, if they do not have it, they have to find ways to raise it! Reportedly, only 3% of Faculty donate because of the crappy way they are treated.

This semester, the firings are being referred to, among other things, as a SERIOUS BLOODBATH! Imagine being a student in class and watching your professor being escorted from the building via armed guards!

LMU actually does have an endowment fund. You can check U.S. News & World Report's college rankings to get the 2011 total.

University endowments generally consist of funds given by donors, sometimes with restrictions as to their use. The school takes the money and invests it, using the profits for scholarships, salaries, buildings, etc. If you think an endowment and tuition income is the same thing, you don't know much about how colleges operate.

Yo ANON...I KNOW they are different! Then, since you have answers that no one else has, then tell me why no one KNOWS about the 'mysterious LMU Endowment Fund"...not even Faculty or Staff know!

Try googling "Lincoln memorial university endowment", there are several stories that confirm the existence of endowment funds.

I'm not sure why you think no one knows about it. You can easily find this information online.

Go to http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com... and scroll down to "General Information." It tells you the endowment fund total for 2011 ($29,887,916).

LMU's website also has some information about what the endowment fund is and how it's used: http://www.lmunet.edu/Alumni/giving/endowment...

I was wondering when LMU started allowing students to be paid for student teaching?? Corey Russell was paid by the Claiborne County Board as a teachers aide while he was doing his student teaching, is that legal?

They have a pile of debt as tall as the quadrangle flagpole. Infallible Pete has L.M.U. in a seriously precarious financial condition. The graduate program, which was a goldmine, is on the ropes. The state of Georgia decided it didn't want to increase teachers salaries for the L.M.U. graduate students. There wasn't any appreciable improvement to the teachers who went back to graduate school. The only improvement was to the teachers pay scale and an increase in the tax load of Georgia taxpayers. When, not if, the United States government has to cut it's massive deficits, the grants and government guaranteed student loans will be one of the major targets. There is already one trillion dollars owed by college students in the U.S. If anyone thinks the U.S. can continue to borrow and print one half of the U.S. budget dollars, he or she is psychotic. We have considered ourselves the Roman Empire of the modern world since 1945. Any half serious student of past monetary history knows we are headed for economic hell. Student loan defaults will skyrocket. We are in a world where many nations are technologically close to the American level. L.M.U. is a minor problem in America's massively malfunctioning economic system. For over forty years riding the welfare system has been a far better career choice than millions of working Americans. L.M.U.'s employees, on the lower levels, would have had far better pay and benefits than L.M.U. paid for employees who were skilled in many fields. Pete's employees would also get more economically if they didn't work and spent their intellectual pursuits on milking the welfare system. In reality, it would be more honorable than working for Pete for poverty wages. It is not an honorable quality to work for his table crumbs while he accumulates hundreds of millions of dollars on employees aching backs and sweat. Now he goes to direly, poverty stricken countries to exploit the more impoverished than DeRoyal's and L.M.U.'s employees.
