Estelle Herron will make a fine county mayor. She is a honest and hard working woman. She cares about the citizens of Loudon county and will do what is best for the people. If you want Loudon county to prosper you should vote for Estelle!

Before some of you people start trying to paint Estelle Herron as Mother Teresa or the Virgin Mary, there's a few sticky facts that have to be talked about.

# 1. A few years ago Ms. Herron was involved in a lawsuit brought by one of her employees. The suit alleged sexual and age discrimination. According to the employee, she was not happy with the vulgar, nasty language used in the office by Ms Herron and others. When the employee complained, the lawsuit alleged that Ms. Herron dropped her pants to her ankles and put her bare buttocks in the employees face. What we would call shooting a moon close up. The suit was settled out of court for an undetermined amount of money. The law suit asked for 1.5 million dollars. Bet that cost the tax payers a pretty penny.

# 2. Ms. Herron's last boyfriend was Robert "Tooter" Robinett. Business partner to Loudon County Chief Deputy, Tony Aikens and bankrupted Lenoir City Judge, Terry Vann. I have heard around the halls that Mr. Robinett currently owes a substantial amount of uncollected back taxes for the Adequate Facilities Tax to Ms. Herron's office.

# 3. Up until earlier this year, Ms. Herron had employed bankrupted Lenoir City Judge, Terry Vann, as the county property tax attorney. The tax attorney position is filled exclusively by Ms. Herron as the trustee.

There are a few other issues that for now are better left unsaid but I suspect those will come out sooner or later. Then someone else can be the "JUDGE" of those actions. Wink, Wink, Nod, Nod.

I don't know any of the candidates personally and I don't know who would be the best candidate for the job. But for me character in an elected official is very important and I will make my decision likewise regardless of the silly stuff that gets bantered around on here.

I don't see why is it so hard to understand. When the trustee hire someone to collect delinquent taxes for this county she wants a expert so she finds the person that owes more delinquent taxes than anyone else and that was Terry Van! No person knows more about delinquent taxes than that guy.

When reading what Right wrote, it looks like Ms. Herron did these things herself.

I believe that Van Shaver has very good intentions in what he does. However I also believe he likes to present a "down home country boy" image. Nothing wrong with that except that as Mayor he would have a large role in attracting new businesses and industry to the area. I'm not sure how well his image would be recepted by a visiting corporate exec. Van..there's nothing wrong with a shirt and tie every now and then.

Are you that shallow? It takes more than a shirt and a tie...it takes brains which the current Loudon County government is gravely lacking.

Let's see, Arp wears a shirt and tie, Brookshire wears a shirt and tie, heck Obama wears a shirt and tie. That's just what we need, more elected officials who wear shirts and ties but could care less about the people.

I'm far more interested in what's on the inside of a man than what's on the outside. I would sure trust a "down home country boy" before I would trust a slicked up crook.

Van Shaver is one of us not one of them.

let's elect him mayor then we can see what he wears. i just don't want another crook in office. he needs to be prosecuted for his actions. i would not put it past him to be using tax payers dollars to pay his lawsuit fees. he's done it before for his employees. i would like to know the amount of money spent this past christmas for his little boat trip up the river, all on the taxpayer's dime. good ridance mayor, welcome honest and transparency to Loudon County Government

whenever you have blacks you will corruption as brookshire tx has seen time and again. they may go to church every sunday but the rest of the week they are corrupt. and they wonder why they don't get respect. you have to earn respect. if you are going to go to church and sunday then you need to live the rest of your life as a child of god.

I wonder how many people who voted knew the history of the candidates. I know people who voted because they knew a member of the candidates family or because they came to their door. I hear Ms. Herron knocked on a lot of doors especially in Tellico Village. Nothing wrong with that, but if thats all you know about the candidates its better you don't vote at all.

Squashing the voice of the voters is something else you need to be worrying about! America. Freedom. I vote my way, and you vote your way. Give my eyes a break!

If your way is uninformed and for all the wrong reasons (wrong being ignorance) dont vote. I vote my convictions you vote yours. If you don't have any convictions dont vote. Vote for honest people of integrity who want what is best for the community as a whole. We dont all agree on the issues, that's what America is all about. If you don't know the issues or if you are voting for someone because of what they can do for you personally and you dont care whether or not your candidate is honest you dont deserve a vote!
Man up!!
