Your right, I guess as a straight person, I don't give it much thought when I mention my husband or kids. Kind of makes me feel sad that gay people have to watch what they say about their home life around certain people for fear of discrimination.
Where I work, there are quite a few gay men and they are open about it, and I gotta say, no one has ever made a big deal out of it. I do see a big difference than when I was growing up, maybe because I am now dealing with adults and not kids.
Very true.

One of our opponents' favorite spins is that we are "teaching gay sex" in schools. This amazes me because it is really twisted, or an outright lie.

In elementary school, children are taught about social structures not intimate matters. Sexual matters enter the curriculum around puberty when (apart from plumbing differences) that aspect of personhood begins to actually means something more to them than just cultural clothing styles.

Our opposition is also confused about the distinction between what is a "reasonable fear" and what is "rational".

There is little about their fears that are either, and demogogues are gaining voting block brokering power through stoking these irrational and unreasonable fears.

There are numerous ways to fight this, and I would like to imagine that the pro-gay have not even *begun* to fight this.

If this is repeatedly brought up in reference to schools themselves, come on, YOU KNOW what is going to happen: There is going to be counter-screaming from liberals and the pro-gay that *ALL* sex education must stop in schools. That'll only be step one.

Teachers will also be restricted,*en masse*, from speaking about their private lives at all.

I do not necessarily think it's a bad thing. My big, big thing is,*IF* Group A says this and tries to restrict Group B, the GREATEST way to teach a lesson is that EVERYONE loses their privileges. I applaud teachers and parents who do it, although I know it causes fury in children. It will likely cause fury in the populace.

The important thing for the pro-gay to do is to be extremely unyielding on this stance. Either *EVERYONE* can discuss these things in school, or *NO ONE* gets to.

The other stuff about indoctrinating kids or molesting them is, I will say until my grave,*grounds for lawsuits* as it is nasty, nasty hate speech sufficiently adverse to the interests of gay individuals that (I believe) it is costing them some of their rights. Even the *pro-gay are fighting me* on this, in some instances, whence issued my attitude that I don't give a ***k how long everyone has to wait for equality, if that's how they're going to be.

We're not talking about OPINIONS. The anti-gay are *FACTUALLY LYING* as you point out above, and to me, that is grounds for lawsuits *BECAUSE* those lies are causing gay people to lose rights, period. I will never waver from this stance. It is so clear to me, so cut-and-dried, that it's a joke more people haven't caught on, in my opinion.

OPINION is protected by the first amendment. LYING is covered under:

1. slander,
2. libel,
3. defamation of character,

period.

My girlfriend got fired from a coaching position because the parents decided to raise a stink about the fact that she is a lesbian. She's coaching SOFTBALL. I think the obvious is implied, but the ignorance of parents is pathetic. She couldn't do anything about it because it would have killed her career. But that's the way America works.

Wow. Someone actually reconsidered their position. Thanks for that.

I've been teaching for almost 20 years; five at a K-8 school and presently at a high school. Like most workplaces, the heterosexual norm is ever-present and expected. Staff members talk about their spouses or children, what they did over the weekend or last night, display pictures at their desks. Does anyone think that these everyday occurrences are objectionable?

When I was a probationary teacher, I kept myself deep in the closet. I was asked by a student on more than one occasion exactly the question that this young man was asked. I usually said no, and brushed aside any further inquiries. I felt really awkward, and I'm sure that the students could sense that fact.

I've stopped lying and now tell anyone who asks exactly what this young man said. It's been my experience that students can handle this information just fine. It's the parents and adults who have a hard time with truth.

By the way, it was the courageous example of a student who came out during her senior year that influenced my change of attitude. Young people can have a marvelous impact on their teachers. That was 10 years ago... seems like just yesterday.

There are sooooo many ways to even the field, from things that make a social statement to things that are enacted out of pure vengeance. I see problems for gay people as so bad that I routinely forgive practically *anything* they do at this point.

If you ever want to send parents on these boards into absolute raging hysteria, remind them that they *DON'T* have control over what their children learn and that you *DO* have a god-given right to teach *THEIR KIDS* not to be discriminatory against gay people. It's 100.0% true, it *is* in fact 100.0% a god-given right, and it makes them go apeshit.

So long as something is the truth, I don't give a ***k how much it upsets other people. I've lost all compassion for that because these people are too ugly and even the pro-gay themselves are occasionally being stupid losers who cannot seem to do for themselves what should be done, but I can hardly be critical and so I think it but rarely say it.

Good for the school. Homosexual teachers should stop talking to little kids about their sex lives and trying to get down their pants.
This teacher of homosex to little kids should have to turn over his computer so it can be checked for dirty pictures of the students.

Obviously not.
You are just spewing ignorance.

He didn't mention sex.
He was giving appropriate answers to questions from a student.

I read it. He admitted he wanted to find out which 9 year olds thought they were already homosexuals and talk to them more about it. It's called 'grooming' when an adult pervert starts working on little kids. Little kids in 4th Grade! Thank God there was a watchful parent to complain before this creep got tenure and a tragedy happened. He's probably just doing this for a lawsuit anyway now that the school interrupted him from finding out which little kids were "gay" and groomed them into being molested. What a discusting creep!

Please read the article!
A student asked the teacher if he was married.
The teacher said, "No".
The student asked why not.
What should the teacher have said?

The teacher just gave honest answers to the student.
You are the one who starts thinking about sex with kids.

It's like a cult where you all don't mind filthy homosexuals posing as teachers to groom little kids so they can be sexually assaulted by your kind. Wow.

Marlena, you are a f*cking liar. There is absolutely nothing about him "wanting to find out which 9 year olds thought they were already homosexuals" at all. You, or you like minded bigoted friends, made it up so you could use it in your campaign of ignorance, lies, and deceit to slander the gay community. I can't believe that actually thought you would get away with it here. So, little girl, why don't you just shut your lying little mouth and go away. It's people like you who make this world bad.

Oh my.

I always find it hard to belieev that there are really folks as ignorant as yourself out there in the world, and Viola! Here you are.

Where does your kids find this crap? And why in the world would any sane person throw out all reason and logic, right along with along with the facts, and spew it?

It's sad to see.

But fortunately, so many of your sort are finding themselves in closets, afraid to spread the lies openly. You haunt gay forums and the like, fascinated by gay folks, but staying hidden.

And that's a good thing.

See (addressing the forum, not this poster), I don't get why any of you even *pretend* this person isn't doing this deliberately. These types of people have a rapist's mentality and simply want to attempt to take away others' rights. These types of people are human garbage and anti-American filth. This type of talk should be actionable in courts; *it's a direct and knowing series of lies*. This poster KNOWS that s/he is lying, and yet these groups cry and complain about the attacks upon them.

I've begun to wonder if people like this say these things in attempts to *deflect attention* from the number of heterosexuals that unceasingly rape and molest little kids. I wouldn't know, but this type of fascination with the rape of children is *beyond* what anyone may call "creepy" and it comes entirely from the anti-gay, 100% of the time -- this level of obsession, that is.
