The only change she really wanted was to change the name of the school to the Karen Pletz Medical School.

Ms. Pletz....very popular among the Civic Leaders. A horror to work for.

I'm neither pro nor anti-Pletz. However, I am a DO and KCUMB alum, and the e-mail she sent to alumni about the state of the osteopathic profession was a very accurate assessment. Her proposed steps to mitigate things for KCUMB students were commendable. I do not know about anything behind the scenes at KCUMB that may have contributed to her termination, but I do know the osteopathic profession in its current state is an embarrassment, and the osteopathic medical educational model is a few notches above the Carribean model. KCUMB is no exception, and her email indicated that she wanted to mitigate these shortcomings. FYI, the only for-profit medical school in the US is a recently-opened DO school.
