I was born and raised in the south and am proud of that fact. But let's face it. The South was on the wrong side of history. I can understand what a black person might feel seeing the Confederate flag flown. Kinda like seeing a Nazi flag flown in Israel. Speaking of "culture and heritage" watch this.

Good old General Lee. The man that single-handedly lost the Civil War for the south. There are quite a few books on all the mistakes he made at Gettysburg , which totally changed the ebb and flow of the war. The only true heroes of note to come out of the Civil War were Lincoln(the single greatest American President) and U.S. Grant. The South lost because of Lee and the fact that the South was on the wrong side of a moral argument. No man has the right to earn their keep from the sweat of another man's brow. And if you disagree with that , you're a moron and your opinion isn't worth the breath it takes to express it.

Lincoln a true hero?
Too bad he didn't lead the troops at Bull Run.

Sorry your link would not load for some reason.
It is true that slavery had long been an institution under the US flag and the British flag etc.
The difference is that the confederate flag represented to a very great degree the PRESERVATION of that institution (I realize there were other reasons for that rebellion)
I doubt there would have been a Confederate states of America if not for the effort to preserve slavery

Do you really believe this? There may have been a couple of the states that would fall into this catagory, but certainly not the majority. Besides, with the dawn of the industrial revolution just around the corner slavery was about to be obsolete anyway.

How dare any state celebrate treason?

And then people get irate if some misguided protestor burns a USA flag to make a point...

Flying the Confederat Rag is FAR worse than burning the stars'n'stripes!

Fighting to preserve slavery! What perfidy! What outrage! What unadulterated evil!

Obviously at least parts of the South need another dose of Federal troops up their collective ass to straighten out their system... so to speak.

Start with SC, AL, MS, AK and TX. REPROBATES all.

Do y'all know where in the USA the bulk of the black population is concentrated? It is mostly along the southern Mississippi: western TN, LA, western MS, eastern AK, as well as many in a band across northern AL, northern GA and SC.

I think any property owned by a displayer of the Confederat Rag should be forfeited and made into an autonomous black region (not different country... don't want any more SECESSION).

The only secession which has honor in the USA was that of WV from evil slaving VA.

Yep, we were told a long time ago, about the traitors within our race!

This traitor should drawn and quartered!

We should go to Maryland and find this traitor!

From where do you get the notion that I am "within your race"?

Your ultra-right white supremacist terrorist ass has been reported to the FBI, boy... oh wait, they already know about you...

So, no problem...

I agree with the notion of the hypocrisy of someone who defends the flying of the confederate flag (which was a symbol of rebellion against the government of the United States) and then getting upset when someone burns the American flag. However the rest of your post is first amendment hating garbage. A person should be able to display a Confederate flag or any other flag for that matter. Freedom of expression is paramount in this country. It is the one thing above all others that makes this country great.
This nonsense about sending in federal troops because of people exercising their first amendment rights.....Sounds pretty Naziesque to me.
Don't get me wrong I do not like what the Confederate Flag symbolizes. But what I like or dislike cannot be imposed on my fellow man.
And this idea of seizing property because of someones freedom of expression rights being exercised......again ......Germany in the 30s.
Finally, whats this "autonomous black region"?
You would turn the US into Apartheid South Africa?

I would really like to see you or anyone else come to my property and try to make me take down my flags.
By the way there were several flags of the Confederacy not just the Stars and Bars. Most of the ignorant a$$e$ that would be allegedly offended by a Confederate flag wouldn't even recognize any of these other flags of the Confederacy.
I'm not sure the google map you used to make your statement about the regions that have concentrations of blacks. There are at least two counties in north GA that have less than 1% of their population as black.
The whole issue of racisim is about to change anyway, especially if the Latin population decides to form their version of the NAACP. They are now the largest minority and if their prolific breeding continues they will not be a minority.

Interesting theory......you may have a point. The first phase of the industrial revolution was actually well under way at the time of the civil war. There was already a vast railroad system in this country at the time. Could Slavery have died a peaceful death without all the bloodshed? Who knows? We will never know.
As to the determining factor on whether there would be a Confederate States of America without slavery being the catalyst-by and large...The confederate states were slave states and the union were free states. That should tell you a lot.
