Opinion Staff wrote a new blog post: Global warming debunked

Mar 7, 2014 Full story: The Gazette 8

As an engineer with a background in science and math, I've followed the global warming debate for decades.

Why to ignore 90 million tons of CO2 spewing daily into our atmosphere! That translates in energy equivalent to 400,000 hiroshimas daily.

Where do all that go? What do all that do to life and the planet?

Why not address the flooding, sealevel rise, extreme weather, season change, ocean acidification, droughts, animal and plant shift,..?

Because it's a hoax. Kinda like the hoax that says Dear Leader is a genius. Kinda like the hoax that increasing the minimum wage will increase the standard of living. Kinda like the hoax that a prius is environmentally cleaner than a hummer. Kinda like the hoax that consensus is science. Quit denying reality.

LOL.

If you have the science, publish it in the science journals like nature, science, etc where man-made global warming and the resulting climate change and other effects are discussed.

Nobody claims consensus is science. You are assuming a lot. Quit denying reality.

When you were posting this, I was searching fot the quote by Professor Alley..

It was totally misrepresented by the opinion guy. Actually, Professor ends his last sentence is: "if anything, nature has been trying to cool the climate over the last few decades, but warming has occurred."

There may be a clue in one of his last statements.

"l Gary Ellis of Cedar Rapids is an electrical engineer"

Which I would clarify as

I, Gary Ellis of Cedar Rapids, am an electrical engineer".

Even worse would be if this illiterate smuck actutally did have an engineering degree. Then the problem would move to low educational standards. But it would at least be consistent with the unreasonable arguments he tries to make..

Here's the Richard Alley quote in full; more worth reading than the idiot writing the blog, who failed to understand what it's saying on two counts.

Whether temperatures have been warmer or colder in the past is largely irrelevant to the impacts of the ongoing warming. If you donít care about humans and the other species here, global warming may not be all that important; nature has caused warmer and colder times in the past, and life survived. But, those warmer and colder times did not come when there were almost seven billion people living as we do. The best science says that if our warming becomes large, its influences on us will be primarily negative, and the temperature of the Holocene or the Cretaceous has no bearing on that. Furthermore, the existence of warmer and colder times in the past does not remove our fingerprints from the current warming, any more than the existence of natural fires would remove an arsonistís fingerprints from a can of flammable liquid. If anything, nature has been pushing to cool the climate over the last few decades, but warming has occurred.
